Any trick to dynamically connect object?

Archive: 3 posts

ok... I have a level idea in my head. But no idea how to realize it.

So one quesion for advanced builders that already knows some trick?
Is there some way to connect object dynamically during gameplay? What I need is - I have two object. Both should be separated and behave/move independently. But under some conditions I would like to switch to "connected by spring" state.
Any idea if it is even remotely possible to achieve? Does not have to be spring that connect them. But it should keep them in one place with some small movements based on physics inputs from other objects.

Edit: Ou and it should be possible to connect more obejct together this way. Like 5 object to one in the middle for example. So doing it by keeping the objects hollow and emiting another connecting object that will contain he spring and small circles that will emit inside the holow object = locking them this way... is not a good idea. One one is emited, it could prevend the other ones to be emited.

You could go and experiment with:
- Two objects following each other (Follower set to tag, kind of a magnetic effect, works through walls)
- Have them become sticky for the moment they touch (though you run the risk they stick to other stuff as well)

There is no way you can dynamically create a physical spring connection between two objects (apart from replacing both objects by one object that is a copy of the two others hooked together).

Ah. The sticky sounds like a good idea. Why did I forgot that one.
Basically emiting the "two small sticky circles connect with spring" and by some followers ensuring that both ends of that spring will stick to my objects. Not sure how much glitchy this would be... but its at least something to play with and experiment.
Thanks

And follower+tag can be somehow deacivated by the impact senzor (+other logic to ensure more object can still e attached if needed) to ensure, that it wont attact other nearest object when not neccessary.
