How do people get on the "Cool" Pages?
Archive: 16 posts
I looked at the "Cool" Pages & I'm a bit disappointed that most of the levels there are from the same creator(whom I can't name, due to a large & confusing name) who has half-ssed levels that get thousands of plays. I made a level called "Iron's Slime Factory" & sure, it isn't perfect or anything, but at least it's better than all of his/her levels put together in my opinion. I spend about 5-14 days on my levels, but they get squat. They Copy the same thing(like the Kill JB or Destroy a City crap) & get profit. What the hell? | 2011-02-22 03:05:00 Author: IronSkullKid99 Posts: 515 |
How do people get on the "Cool" Pages? By standing on it one foot at a time, Yoho~ but no really, it's all luck man. tho really good levels normally still make to the top for a short bit. but spam also always makes it's way to the top. *mew | 2011-02-22 03:13:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Adrvitisment on first fe hours, make you friend play and don't forget to do level thread. Throuth if you level is really not good this won't help The key is to get as most plays and yeys in few hours to apper on bottom of cool pages and slowly bubble up, after you get high enoth (someting around 5th page) you should catch wild plays (plays that are not effect of your adrvitisment) and after that all depends on people jurge. I takes 4h to 14h to get to first page (if you still got good rates). Play rate on first page is so high that guaranty you that your level will get 4 digit plays whatever it sux or not. Level usally stays on it's postion for 2 days after that it starts to slowly fall to make place for new levels. | 2011-02-22 03:19:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
I think Mm hooked up a randomizer to all the levels published and it chooses a new one every 15 minutes or so. then they put them into a hat and Alex Evens closes his eyes and grabs a hand full then throws them on a board where they play darts and what ever they hit is on cool pages . I'm about 99% sure I'm right on this one. | 2011-02-22 07:57:00 Author: Ghost Posts: 114 |

i find you either need luck, or if you honsetly try you can do it, ask a friend to play it and the key to staying on is hearts, i found that because when my lvl fiore was on page 4 it moved up a few lvls every hert it got. im happy to see my new level on page 1, not being eragent but its a bit nicer than playing a lvl that gives you a free cloud, i mean. comon peope | 2011-02-22 14:00:00 Author: Distinct-Creator Posts: 198 |
I know it might sound bad to do if you want your level on the Cool Pages... JUST KEEP REPUBLISHING!!!! (Kinda works) And for some more plays post it here in level showcase and PSN message your friends!!! | 2011-02-22 15:24:00 Author: chinook3 Posts: 453 |
It is mostly luck but there are many tips 1: Don't copy other levels on the cool pages like a type of level(I did in LBP1 for the jetpacks because i gave them as prize) 2: Update your levels, they don't get recognized the first minute you put them up 3: Dont make long confusing level names make it something catchy 4: Always test your levels before you publish 5: Ask friends to put keys or level links Also, the reason all of his levels are played is because he is on the cool page and get friends to try your levels-Bbody PS: I hope you found this useful. | 2011-02-22 20:20:00 Author: Bbody Posts: 43 |

(Kinda works) And for some more plays post it here in level showcase and PSN message your friends!!! It won't work any more much, new cool pages don't shoot new levels on top as old one did. Judging by the quality of half the cool page levels, I wouldnt be surprised... It's pure rate stats, as i said many times machines are not able to judge your level and never will be.... or else people will make AI near human behaviors so it can understand art. So only one to blame is community that like those levels, that you might not notice but majority is casuals | 2011-02-22 20:24:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
Isnt there some microchip someone could come up with to filter the cool pages? Anyway I agree, the crappy cool pages really are the result of only the taste the community has... It would appear the cool pages mostly have to do with publish time, plays and hearts, which then can put anything tons of people play right at the top. I think the publish time and also different ratios containing yay/boo/hearts/plays should all play a role in the way the cool pages are sorted, mainly yay/boo/heart ratios. | 2011-02-22 21:30:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
From what I can assume, recieve a large amount of Plays & Likes in a short amount of time... | 2011-02-22 21:40:00 Author: Nurolight Posts: 918 |
I was beginning to think it was sexual favours. But I'm swaying to the random hat idea now, it is pretty convincing. | 2011-02-22 21:56:00 Author: JonnysToyRobot Posts: 324 |

By publish time you mean how long level is published? | 2011-02-23 02:46:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
Lol I'm happy people agree with my theory. | 2011-02-23 04:42:00 Author: Ghost Posts: 114 |
By publish time you mean how long level is published? I think he means by what time you published it, like Friday Evening would have a better chance than Sunday Morning. Anyway I was planning on making like a "release trailer" on youtube for my sonic project, showing off the new things and in the video revealing a date and time i will be publishing it, to experiment and see how the results would be both rating and cool page-wise | 2011-02-23 07:37:00 Author: JKthree Posts: 1125 |
I feel your pain. It's especially frustrating when a lower-quality level gets in cool pages in a matter of hours or one day after publishing while a better one might not even get to the cool pages. I published a movie level 1-2 weeks ago that I was proud to call "good" for my standards. Then I see a level on the cool page with the same idea as mine that was recently published. I thought it was cool since after all I did base my idea off the same commercial and I wanted to see different versions of it from people. What got me upset is how it looked like it took less effort to make and it gets thousands of plays after 1-2 days of publishing and getting all of these comments with, "LOL LOL LOL how original" when the ENTIRE commercial voiceover was recorded from the mic and nothing 'cool' was really going on. Total peeve. The community needs better level standards, I agree. | 2011-03-01 21:41:00 Author: Unknown User |
