lightning a sackbulb!
Archive: 9 posts
hi i have this sackbot with a lightbulb head which id like to light up using r1.problem is, the hologram material doesnt cast light on other objects and light sources like spherical led are not passtrought (and therefore gets stuck everywhere). any1 has a sulution to this? additional info: it doesnt matter if the light is in front (thin layer), thru (thick layer), or back (thin layer) of the sackbot since the lightbulb is transparent and the effect is the same. i planned on making the light follow the bot with a follower and.... thats aout it... thanks | 2011-02-22 00:54:00 Author: sentory Posts: 5 |
Actually, you basically have everything right except one little thing. You're going to want to put an LED Light Bulb (one of the ones that stick to objects like a decoration) on the holographic material, and have that turn on with the R1 button. That lightbulb can be set to invisible in play mode, so do that too. And don't forget to set the hologram's brightness to 0%, so it's invisible in play mode as well. I fooled around with lights and stuff a couple weeks ago. | 2011-02-22 01:10:00 Author: KlawwTheClown Posts: 1106 |
it works!!! turned out the led light bulb (visibility in play mode off) was the solution. the only thing is that activting the light turns its visibility on so when i released r1 the light turns off but stays visible. i fixed this by emitting it each time i press r1 and destroying it when i release it. the movement is still sloppy even with the follower tweaked to max but im working on this. i am very happy because this is a perfect solution for this since it occupies a thick layer(same as the bot) and it really looks like the bot is the light source. i was starting to consider workarounds like cutting off the whole 3rd layer or restricting use to certain areas and it really bugged me so im really gratefull for that! thanks klaww | 2011-02-22 07:17:00 Author: sentory Posts: 5 |
That there is a bad bug. When I turn the light on and off it doesn't show. Why does yours? I think if you have the light on the back thin layer, it'll hide the bulb. | 2011-02-22 07:21:00 Author: Devious_Oatmeal Posts: 1799 |
are you sure you are using the "led light bulb", the one that tick on stuff like decoration? because this one is suppose to occupy a thick layer not a thin layer... maybe you got the wrong led.... maybe i just dont get what youre trying to say | 2011-02-22 17:16:00 Author: sentory Posts: 5 |
its called "light box" in my popit. | 2011-02-22 19:41:00 Author: Deftmute Posts: 730 |
the only thing is that activting the light turns its visibility on so when i released r1 the light turns off but stays visible. I've never heard of that, and it's not what's supposed to happen: the light object should stay invisible the whole time. Double check that you've got everything set right, and if so, I would do a level backup and e-mail it to Mm with a bug report. | 2011-02-22 23:50:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
