How to make custom stickers that are not rectangle shapes?

Archive: 15 posts

I've searched around this forum, and other fourms - but have failed to find a clear-cut answer to this.

Is it possible to make my own custom stickers that are not rectangle from photo?

Here is a screenshot of what I am talking about below. I have 2 stickers I made from photo tool. I placed them on some cardboard, and used the corner editing tool to create the perfect shape for my sticker trigger (top two no sticker, just cardboard. bottom two are stickers on cardboard. left two car stickers on rectangle cardboard). But now I am stuck on how to make my stickers into these shapes, the way the story level stickers are (like the star).. I never placed a rectangle sticker on a custom-cut sticker trigger in story mode, and I would prefer not to do that in my own level...

As far as I know there is no way. Self-made stickers are square. 2011-02-21 05:59:00

Making a sitcker in those shapes...probably for lbp3 >_< sorry buddy its not possible, you could just zoom in on what you want to capture or just practice and by sightguessing or triying to make a badge circular that would fit perfectly, (I think they give those away though...).

You could just add a empty background and take the pic also, but bottom line is, all picture you take will be rectangular, no matter what, unless MM changes that.

A cheap workaround is stickering a piece of holo and taking that holo and gluing it over the other piece. Although stickered holo tends to make the blacks transparent.2011-02-21 06:17:00

Well, that just stinks.

Here I was, under the assumption I was handed the same tools as MM creators used to build their story levels... Cant even make custom shaped stickers, or even recreate simple story level objects, like the 3D beachball.

I dont want to just have my object sticky'd in my level, I want to offer my custom shaped sticker to the user in a prize bubble so they can later use that sticker on a sticker trigger to open a secret area, just like MM does in almost every one of their story levels. Would be nice to be able to offer non-rectangled stickers..2011-02-21 06:21:00

There is a way actually.

I found it out by researching day and night.

Messing with logic and what not.

But I found a sure fire way to do it.

It's not a glitch or anything like that.

It will pretty much let you do that.

What you first do is go into Mm studios, get a job there as a sticker maker, and make your sticker.......

I'm sure that will work. Other than that.... No. There is no other way. Unless you can convince someone from Mm to do it.

But seriously, The best way is to align everything that you want to be on the sticker on cardboard(s) and take a picture of it. But then there is the problem with the background. You can use neon metal or the fog to get the background right depending on what the sticker will be on.

3D beach ball? That's in the objects section in your popit. But I think it was in LBPone.

there is a real way to do it................

get lbp (first one) dont install the patches, go to create mode/your moon put alot of different materials in and glue them all
make your thermo go right up until it starts going funny and a blackish sorta background keeps popping up
thats when you take your pic but its a dodgy one to get use to =) does work though
i have the abc's as stickers all made like that but my style not mm's

hope this helps you in your quest xD

Edit: yea a sticker cutter as in it cuts stickers up that we make so we can edit them like cutting a triangle outa a square of material would be great and its not really that hard to make it so it works on stickers

Already thought about that. Even went a step farther and tried to research the PC/Mac tools MM uses in their studios, but to no avail.

I know where the beachball is. I was simply stating that we arent given the tools to recreate that object if we wanted to. We don't even have the tools to cut that beachball in half. I'm not talking about a 2D circle with a beachball sticker applied to it. The real beachball object is 3D and you can see this by turning the camera angle and not finding any flat sides to it, even on the Z-axis.

But back to stickers.. I am honestly surprised there is not a sticker editing tool like the material corner editor tool. Would be nice to have something like that. Or at least to know what programs the MM team used to build these stickers.

Now thats something that sounds useful! Time to bust out the old fat PS3 and pop in my LBP1 copy and import my rectangle photos via USB and do some magic

I'll report back if this works or not.

Idk. I agree with the 3D thing. But I think if we were able to do that, it might blow the thermometer. I'm pretty sure they're going to come out with DLC that allows you to do it, they might call it the "Sticker Artist" or something. But when they do that, that building might fall... That's not a threat, but just saying. That's something we should of had in the beginning.2011-02-21 06:39:00

Totally didnt work. So I looked up "edgeless stickers" on this forum, and on Google, and it turns out its a completely random glitch that supposedly is very rare to happen. I sent you a friend request on the PS3 to see if maybe you could help me out.
