Disabling remote DCS "promts" while in another DCS?

Archive: 5 posts

(DCS = controllinator)

Ok, so I have a remote DCS following my sackboy, which has prompt names for a few of the buttons (L1="menu").
You know, the ones that appear at the bottom of the screen?
Anyways, when sackboy gets in another DCS, I disable the microchip containing the remote DCS (sackboy cannot use any functions), yet the remote prompts still appear, and the new prompts from the other DCS don't show up at all.

Why the heck doesn't this work? :/

That is very strange. Is the original DCS required later on, since it could just be destroyed by having it on a different following holo. Have you tried in Play mode, could be that it's just glitched in create.

Test this out in create:

With microchip enabled, remove the first DCS and check to see if prompts change. If it doesn't, then the prompts are glitched.
Return DCS back into position and check what prompts show. If prompt doesn't change back, then if could be whichever DCS came first gets the prompts (removing the 1st one and returning it made it the 2nd one)
Try again with microchip disabled. If it changes back, then it could be that whichever DCS is closest to the initial DCS gets the prompts (as in how deep the DCS's are inside wiring and microchips).

Probably not going to help, but could point out where glitch comes from.

It seems obvious that disabling a DCS would stop its prompts as well. MM should probably have a look at this.

Try this:

Is the microchip disabled when the sackboy gets in the DCS, or before. Try testing it when it occurs before. Could be that the DCS is loading the prompts from the initial one before it gets disabled.

Try making sure the receiver's eject input is on while sackboy changes controllinators. Even if it doesn't eject anything, I'm pretty sure it disables both prompts and button reception for receivers while active.

Also random question: I know what DCS means, but what does it stand for exactly?

Thanks for the help guys.

Yes, I need the wireless one later on.
Yes, tried in play mode too, same results.
If I delete wireless DCS, the prompts disappear.

if chip = disabled so are the buttons, but the prompts are still there.

I replaced the remote DCS in my level, however the prompts still appear.
If chip is disabled at start of level, prompts still appear.
If I jump in the second DCS, I get prompts for both DCS. O_O

I recreated it (to bare bones) in create, that seems to work fine.
Ejecting the remote DCS also worked the same as disabling the DCS on a microchip.
So I assume something is wrong/buggy on my original?

EDIT:
Yeah um.
I think I know the problem.
I was emitting another holo with another DCS, which happened to be copied from my original (with the prompts along with it)
Oh the joys of copy paste!
I assumed it didn't matter as they are not hooked up to anything. Apparently not.
All good now fellas, thanks a bunch for helping out!
If you ever need a favour in return (playtest/feedback) just let me know.
