Give points without sound effects/number display?

| I'm recreating a particular flash puzzle game which rewards the player points for moving around the screen. This means every frame I am getting "100!" signs all over the place, when I'd really rather they silently counted up. The way it works is, the player gets points for covering ground in the level, and has those points removed if they happen to die or restart the level. | Yeah, the point giver only allows for points "above" the person who scored it - or, in general where the action occured. Sounds like you'll have to go with your second option of awarding points at the end. Just have to set up some logic - so, instead of awarding points - emit a scorebubble at the end of the level - and they can collect them at the end to see how well they did. | 2011-02-21 02:21:00 Author: CYMBOL  Posts: 1230 |
| Following up on Cymbol's suggestion, would it work for you if the player in his transmitting controlinator is very far away from the action? | ^ Doesn't make a difference from my experience. Had a movie camera send screen very far away, but sound and image still appeared. Although, perhaps the sound could be temporarily disabled by setting global SFX level as 0%. haven't tried it, but may work.
