Making a 1-chance challenge?
Archive: 5 posts
Hey guys, so I have been working on my level since the game came out, about 40 hours now. I added some bonus rooms to my level which I think are a great addition. I would like to make it though, so you enter the challenge room, and if you die, the challenge room is unaccessible. I tried a two different methods, both proved to have technical problems. | 2011-02-21 02:00:00 Author: Krondelo Posts: 136 |
Inside the room, have a player sensor that destroys the piston that opens the door required to enter. Now the door will not function. | 2011-02-21 02:49:00 Author: RSQViper Posts: 302 |
Yeah, player sensor inside that closes the door forever once a sack enters, so then if you die you cant ever go back in, add me in game if you need any help | 2011-02-21 03:07:00 Author: SackboyManuel Posts: 26 |
Hahaha, wow I'm just chuckling to myself. I can't believe I hadn't thought of that, I was way overcomplicating it. Thanks Yeah, player sensor inside that closes the door forever once a sack enters, so then if you die you cant ever go back in, add me in game if you need any help Wait this is a problem though, because I need the player to be able to leave the challenge room through the same entrance if they don't die. If I close the door behind them, it would be either they must die, or must escape through another route, which I can't implement at this point. | 2011-02-21 04:25:00 Author: Krondelo Posts: 136 |

Well, you're going to have to make the sensor to the destroyer a bit different then. But I guess I also have a question. Do you ever want them to come back in regardless of if they die or not? Like, if it's a one time room? If it's a one-time room have the player sensor in the room charge a start/stop timer. Then a sensor out of the room to trigger another that is a forward/backwards timer. Set them both to 0.1s. Hook them each to an AND gate and the AND gate to the destroyer. Now you can leave but never come back regardless of if you die or not. I guess it can lead to an issue in multiplayer though of having someone exit the room and shut the door, so have the sensor out of the room set to a quite large area and require all people. Since it's forward/backward it won't set off when you enter. Just be sure there is NO chance of overlapping the sensor in the room. | 2011-02-21 05:56:00 Author: RSQViper Posts: 302 |
