Using the music sequencer to create a sound effect

Hi all, Basically I have made a short 2 second ditty in the music sequencer, thinking I could turn it on and off when I need it to play. Sadly this doesn't work and there's a delay before it starts playing Is there anywhere else you can use the sequencer instruments? Or any way to make it play immediately upon being triggered? I use the sequence for most of my sound effects (nothing has been published yet of mine - so can't point you to an example). I will often add multiple effects. The way I go about it is - set your trigger (player proximity, or have it triggered by shooting it, etc.) Put your sequence on a microchip. Don't ask me why, but they tend to have less issues that way. Connect your trigger to a counter (I do this cause I want the sequencer to only go off 1 time). Set the counter to 1. Connect the counter to your sequencer. That should be it. This is only one method - but it sounded like you were looking for something similiar to that. If not, please explain your scenario a bit more. Anyway, I have some pretty cool effects on mine. When a player shoots a rock - the counter triggers the sound of the plasma (weapons are futuristic), liquifying the rock, then getting ready to explode - the last items on the sequencer give the player points and destroys the object. I think CYMBOL has some good methods, but have you simply tried activating it by using a player sensor, and if there is some delay, you might be able to place the player sensor further back(Assuming you just want to activate a sound effect upon walking towards something) | 2011-02-21 02:21:00 Author: Krondelo Posts: 136 |
Thanks to both of you, but I do not think I can use the sequencer, only the music sequencer seems to be able to use instruments Is there any where else I can use instruments other than the music sequencer? Or is there any way to make the music sequencer play immediately upon triggering? I recall reading a Help thread that attributed the Music Sequencer's initial delay to it being loaded.
