Sucking sackbots up a tube

Archive: 7 posts

Me and my friend have been wondering how to get a tube to suck up sackbots like the in story level 'pipe dreams'.
We've read other threads about this and still cant get it to work, if someone could tell us how EXACTLY you can do this we'd be really grateful. Been trying to work this out for far too long for it to be healthy
THANKS!!

Followers/anti-gravity/tag sensors.

Place a follower on the sackbot's microchip, with a wide enough range to make it up the tube, and set to follow a tag (very important). Also place tag sensor of the same color and radius and a tag (of a different color) on the microchip, as well as a single-object gravity tweaker (set to 100% anti-gravity, and you may want to experiment with the dampening). Wire the tag sensor to the ant-grav tweaker.

Next, place a tag sensor on the ground (or with invisi-holo...) under the tube (set to the color/tag-name of the tag placed on the sackbot). Make sure it is also set to same level = yes and tweak its radii to trigger only when the sackbot is under the tube. Wire its output to a tag placed at the top of tube, set to the color/tag-name used on the follower and tag-sensor you placed on the sackbot.

Now when the sackbot stands under the tube, the tag sensor on the ground will be triggered and will activate the tag at the top. This will trigger the follower and the anti-grav on the sackbot, which will draw it up the tube.

I hope this helps.

Thanks a lot i'll try it out

We gave this a go but we're still having trouble getting the sackbot to change layer on it's own and go up the tube instead of just floating away randomly towards the tag.

I haven't tried experimenting with this at all, and I assume you've already tried this to no avail - but does setting the tag to 'same layer' (Or whatever it says) not work for that? Also, I'd imagine you need to set a smaller tag radius to for it to be sucked up more precisely. Sorry if you've already tried both of those

a better way would be to have a tag at the base of the tube. Inside the sackbot circuitboard, put a selector with 4 inputs/outputs. input #1 is a battery, output #1 is a behavior chip set to follow sackboy. input #2 is a tag sensor of the same ind that is under pipe, set to a range of about 30, output #2 is a behavior chip set to follow tag.
Input #3 is a tag sensor set to a range of about 10, and output #3 is a toggle and the output of that toggle is a mover set to up speed about 30. the sackbot should now follow you until it sees a pipe, it will then run to the pipe, then it will, when very close, fly up. there should also be a counter up in the tube if you want the sackbots counted like in pipe dreams, and a destroyer on the sackbot for after it is counted.

hope that helps!

100@ Anti-grav does not make an object fall upwards on its own. It will basically float where it is and (depending on the level of dampening) be moved by either a push from another object or a Mover of its own. Like the Floaty material from LBP1.

Add a Basic Mover on the bot with 50% Acc/Dec and a positive value for vertical movement. Have it activated at the tube.

Yeah we did that but it just didn't work xD we're improvising a bit now and have made something that sort of works but has about 400 different sensors and tags -_-

Thank you all for your suggestions!

It works thank you, we had to modify the shape of our tube set-up so it would, but it still looks good!
