[ Importing Music ]

I was wondering, since we will eventually get to import pictures, if we might ever get to import music on LBP from the ps3, unless there already is O_o?2008-11-21 02:27:00

As far as I know, the only thing said about this so far is someone mentioning that he'd like to put some kind of add-on to the psp that allows you to create music. I doubt we'll ever be able to import it because almost everything would be copyrighted.2008-11-21 02:47:00

With the way Sony's moderation of LBP has been, I seriously doubt it will ever happen, though new soundtracks may come as DLC.2008-11-21 02:52:00

It's a shame that you're not able to put your own music in your levels.

What's the difference between that and playing a CD at home when you have a few friends over?

i would rather have music playing in the background instead of importing it into the levels, like some game do now E.G Burnout, Warhawk and stardust.

So i would rather have XBM music support, and you never going to get music import to the game because of the way MM and sony have been modorating the levels

Well, besides the copyright issue, loading levels would take forever.

All the things that are added in your level are in the disk, so everyone has it. Loading a user level takes no more than several seconds.
Adding songs with 7 mbs worth of music would kill me. (Even if downloading 7mbs takes nothing; loading a level shouldn't have to take that long)

So unless it's midi files we're talking about <_< I'm against this xD

Maybe if MM bought the rights for a few songs (is that possible?) the most requested ones perhaps, and then patched them in..2008-11-21 18:17:00

I'm pretty sure that MM would just add music soundtracks as downloadable content. It is highly unlikely that MM would even fathom the thought of importing music.

And Dijkie, it's not copyright when you have a few friends over because you're not using it as a form of production and/or sharing implement. If we were sued for copyright and were listening to music with our friends, then there wouldn't be songs at all

i dont think it will happen, to be allowed to import music, i dont think MM is going to pay a lot of money to get sound tracks as a downloadable and it will cost, as people know there ways of getting it free or buying it of itune as use it where ever they want to,

i think it would be better if they allowed us to use our play list on the Ps3 XBM, so i can just press the PS button and play what ever music i want and still play the game, but this would have to be an update and also a lot of things could go wrong, and could slow the game down, but it would be worth it, it would also be cheaper for mm to do as they dont have to pay for roylties.

plus if you already got a song why pay ?5 to get the song again when u can just rip them of the disc. Plus it would be nice to listen to slipknot at full blast and create levels.

i know heavy rock does not mix with LBP but that my style of music, which is another thing, you are not going to get the songs you might like, you could end up with ABBA, or Beatles, and there might not be any songs there you like, so MM could loss a lot of money just to get new sound tracks so it would be less of a risk of using music from the XBM, it does the same if you was to buy songs as dlc. i know LBP is a great game but MM probly dont have the money spare to by sound tracks for you to download

Don't think it will ever happen, which is a shame, because I wanted to make levels based on a lot of my band's songs, with each song playing as background music.

At least a fully functional music editor would be nice. You can only do so much with switches and sound objects.

Have you tried recreating one of your band's songs?

All I would like to see is XMB support for my music so I can listen whilst making levels, not even in game, the soundtrack is too good, but just when I'm facing the silent loneliness of creation!2008-11-27 02:06:00
