Material Customization For Bounce Pads

Archive: 9 posts

I was just messing about in Create Mode just now, and I noticed that Checkpoints and Scoreboards can have their materials changed between Wood, Chrome, Plastic and Cardboard. However Bounce Pads can only be that one metal type look it seems. As much as it does in a way make sense to have them with a metal look, they do at times feel a little out of place in levels that are more nature based and such. So maybe a good idea would be to let the materials of them be changed to one of the four options like Checkpoints and Scoreboards can have to perhaps keep them consistent to certain level themes.

What does everyone else think about it?

I know. But it could be better hidden to an extent if the material of it blended in better. A metal bounce pad hidden in a floor made of cardboard isn't hard to notice unless you start putting stuff in front of every bounce pad so you can't see anything at all.

I do agree, making bounce pads blend into the theme usually means hiding them so that the player can't really see that there is a bounce pad. If we could have different kinds of bounce pads that actually look like bounce pads but would be made out of wood or plastic or whatever the player needs then the visuals on some levels could actually be a little better 2011-02-20 19:55:00

Or you could simply sticker them with a pattern or color that blends in. 2011-02-20 20:59:00

Unfortunately you can't. It won't let you sticker them at all. This is a massive oversight by Media Molecule as they do look pig-ugly as they are. At the very least we should be able to sticker them with any sticker or colour we want.

I did experiment with hiding these recently and found that you can actually "box them in". I just made a box around them out of cardboard/wood ( it should work with other materials too but I can't confirm that yet ). A long as you make the top pretty thin, the bounce pad still works ok. You can then sticker the box any way you want.

It would be much easier though if Mm just gave us an option to sticker or tweak the material of the bounce pad itself as you suggest Moonface.

Yeah you can pretty much hide them like 80%, of course 100% if you play around with the camera angels and Decorations, (Decorations not on the Bounce Pad) but using a Invisible holo for example would help .2011-02-21 17:41:00

Having a bouncepad that is consistently decorated the exact same throughout a level (Say, an exotic flower in a jungle level) Can help hide it well, but take away some of the confusion of decorations over a bounce pad.2011-02-22 11:58:00

This, being able to sticker it, option to turn Bounce Pads sound off and turning it to switch that will activate when player bounces from it.

If they are left like they are I wont be using them as they wont fit themes I usually use.
