I'm Starting to Give Up Hope
Archive: 21 posts
I've made and published a few levels, and then haven't even got over 25 plays. Especially the newest level I played. It hasn't gotten that many plays either. I'm really getting sick of it and I might consider not making levels anymore if I'm just doing it for no reason. I ask other to play it but they don't. I even posted my level in the showcase. (Which has 0 replies) I really don't know what I'm not doing or what I'm gonna do. < | 2011-02-20 01:07:00 Author: donta133 Posts: 182 |

Keep updating, make cool levels, get lucky, be patient Thats the best I can say The level is cool. My friend has a level that has been published for about 2 weeks now, and it only has 5 plays. | 2011-02-20 01:12:00 Author: donta133 Posts: 182 |
The level is cool. My friend has a level that has been published for about 2 weeks now, and it only has 5 plays. Did you read what else I said I mean, my level has gotten 100 plays because I just update it with better things and it looks attractive | 2011-02-20 01:25:00 Author: chinook3 Posts: 453 |
You can try advertising the level. Many, many levels get lost in the flood of levels each day. I've seen great levels with no plays even after a month. Advertise on the forums and you should expect some plays. If you post some appealing pics in the level showcase, I'm sure you could get some plays. Also, get a great badge and name for the level. The first things you see are those two, and it's very easy to skip levels until you see one that catches you eye. | 2011-02-20 01:27:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |
Well, I have never seen your level and know nothing about it, so DO NOT think I am judging it at all. The better designed a level is, the more played it will be. Obviously, your level needs to be a decent level. If you say it is, then ask yourself, why is someone going to play this level? If you make your levels name SHARK SURVIVAL ZOMBIE BOMB PLZ PLAY PLZ no one is going to play that. If your levels name is "Odacious Zicarfus", people wil be like, "wtf?" and will probably check it out. Take some cool pictures and upload them in your level, make it look attractive. Cool pictures and a cool name will most likely attract more plays. Also, a custom badge helps a lot, although this depends. But since yours dont seem to be popluar, just make a badge, it cant hurt and can only do good. Also, flaunt your level in the showcase, someone is bound to play it, and when they do, if they give criticism, fix waterever bugs they point out, update your level, and post in the thread that you did this. Also put level links in your signature, it cant hurt right? Besides the actual level, that should help you get people to play it. | 2011-02-20 01:35:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |

Also, F4F(feedback for feedback) can really help you out as well. Just click on an F4F level in the level showcase, play it, leave feedback, then give them an LBP.me link to your level, and theyll play it(unless theyre total [insert certain profanity here]'s). | 2011-02-20 02:17:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |

Ya it is pretty "eye-catching" Its called Space Hero (RPG) RPG!!! Do you know how hard these are to make? | 2011-02-20 02:46:00 Author: donta133 Posts: 182 |
The better designed a level is, the more played it will be. Obviously, your level needs to be a decent level. You mean he will get better rating, images and icon title, stats is what triggers a play, how do you think people crappy levels get played? ;] think is he need to adrvite it (post thread on LBC LBL etc.) and make people from your friend list in first hours and rate it good to be on bottom of cool pages or else he don't have any chance to get wild plays since you can only get them from cool pages , after you do that you surly might get 3 digit play at least what ever level is rated. If you got bad or none initial rates (which usally be your friends) then there something really wrong with levels, if you level goes to cool pages you should get rewies from random people, hear there feedback if it negative then fix stuff they saying if it's beyond fixing (whole idea of level is broken) then let it go and work on something else, something better. if you got good rate ratio beyond 1/2 all you need is luck that people exploring cool pages will find you and play and rate and help bubbling the level upon cool pages. Your level have total 3 days to be on cool pages and pracicly 1 day to raise on the list after that it stop advancing on the list | 2011-02-20 03:48:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |

Still it's sad that it is actual WORK to get your levels known out there. This is really the weakest part of LBP1 and LBP2 design. I really, really hope LBP3 will share more design genius with Youtube and Facebook. Media Molecule even missed the basics again with LBP2 --- categorization. Our levels aren't reaching their audience because all levels simply are thrown at the same place at the same time. Imagine finding that CD you were looking for if the local CD store was one huge room with a mountain of discs piled up! | 2011-02-20 05:28:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
If your motivation for making levels is popularity and play counts, then I wouldn't say you're in a very good position. I only make them when the process and end result is fun to me, regardless of who plays them. I was more than pleased with my level before it was even finished, and when someone told me it deserves an Mm Pick at little over 10 plays I was thrilled. My intended purpose for publishing was that anyone around my skill level would probably love it if they should happen upon it, and everyone else's problems would just be an extra whim to cater to. I would regret having it Mm Picked because it would easily have several times the amount of dislikes with a marginal increase in likes, because high difficulty and Sixaxis control are unfortunately frowned upon by the general public. The worst thing though is the sea of stupid comments/reviews you'd be getting from most people if your level really takes off. | 2011-02-20 10:31:00 Author: Unknown User |
Yeah I have seen a couple great levels with little plays, one of my own levels which I made a couple days after release has got very little plays, I spent a couple days working on it (although I spent a little to long making logic which is pretty irrelevant now that I understand the new logic more ) and was disappointed with the low amount of plays, however the small amount of reviews I got where saying it was good , anyway I kinda gave up on it when I ran into problems with logic I didn't understand, I may go back and touch it up in an attempt to get some more plays. | 2011-02-20 10:49:00 Author: stargate1995 Posts: 9 |
Throw something together that features zombies in the level and the name. Weep as it gets much more attention than the levels you put loads of effort into. | 2011-02-20 10:55:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
don't have any chance to get wild plays since you can only get them from cool pages There, my friend, is where youre wrong. My level has 2,313 plays in less than a week, and the highest it ever got on the cool pages was page 8. The cool pages are in no way necessary to get a popular level, however, if you want a lot of plays, it has to be better then average. | 2011-02-20 14:13:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
I can understand your frustrations as level organization is still one of the only flaws that made it through from LBP1. While posting on here helps, I will say this: I almost certainly will play your level, just because you posted it here. I've pretty much given up on randomly finding new levels. I almost exclusively use this forum to find them instead. However, I'm creating right now myself. I rarely, if ever, play levels while I'm creating, for two main reasons: 1. I don't want to be influenced by what other people do, and prefer to stay true to my own original design. 2. (Especially in the case of levels found on this site) I don't want to get discouraged by what other people do when it simply dwarfs my levels in every way. So basically, what I'm saying is, posting here helps, but you may want to be patient with this community. Maybe there are other like me that build frantically for weeks at a time before going back and catching up on some levels from the other creators here. Add to that the fact that the game's only been out a month and a lot of people are still just toying around with what you can do. Maybe things will turn around for you, and if your levels are as good as you say, I hope they do. | 2011-02-20 14:43:00 Author: nextlevel88 Posts: 149 |
