Comparing LBP1 to LBP2

Archive: 13 posts

Well, after a month of playing LBP2, I decided I would play LBP1 for a day. Once I started playing, I'm like "What... the..."
It is so different compared to LBP2!

Online:
*LBP1- Has own planet
*LBP2-An easy Community Button, MM Picks, Cool levels.

Story Mode:
*LBP1- Harder, Harder to control, Needs better bosses
*LBP2-Easier, Easier to control, much more fun, and has awesome bosses! (Also cool animation, and clips)

Popit:
LBP1-Heart Button, Not enough stickers and decorations, less costumes and clothing, Popit opens up fast
LBP2-Personal Button, Lots of stickers and decorations, LOTS of costumes and clothing, Popit opens up smoothly.

Pod:
LBP1- Has three planets (Positive)
LBP2: Has own Earth, Can Decorate Earth AND Moon, More Moon Space.

And Most Important:

Create Mode:

LBP1: Not Enough Items or Tools, Smaller Room Space, Not enough Backgrounds, Not Enough Music.
LBP2: MANY Items and Tools, Large Room space, Many Backgrounds, lots of music, Logic, Sackbots, Water, Gravity, EVERYTHING!

Yea, So I Guess LBP2 Is pretty much better overall, so those who only have LBP1, Look at what your missing out on!

Going back to LBP1 every now and then to make glitched objects I was surprised just how different everything felt.

The popit looks more flat in LBP1 somehow and the camera both in the pod and in create mode seems more zoomed-in.

I do like the more homely feel that LBP1 had though. LBP2 with its circuitry and slick menus feels a little cold in comparison.

I think of it as:

LBP1 - a suddenly disapointing piece of old and dry cake

LBP2 - a luxury golden chocolate cake that bombs the world with epic and awesome when someone tries to eat it

Thats basically it, from a point of view.

Well, LBP1 used to be a golden luxury cake, this is my point of view. As soon as LBP2 came out. It made number 1 look lame.2011-02-23 00:09:00

LBP1 - Wobble bolts stayed where they were put.
LBP2 - Wobble bolts feel like they are attached with rubber bands. (seriously, they are messed up)

But in LBP2...who uses bolts?

LBP1 was a simpler time, when logic was a physical entity that took up room in the level and these strange things called 'Magnetic Keys' were all the rage. Still, LBP1 is the fondations to LBP2's skyscraper of awesome, and for that we must be thankful.2011-02-23 15:29:00

The main thing I notice is that LBP1 seems to run at like half the frame rate, it feels like a PSP game in comparison.2011-02-23 15:33:00

I thought the story mode of LBP1 had a bit more "fun loving charm" to it. It felt more like you were playing through someone's imagination as they were making a craft project. You had things hanging from springs, branches attached by hinges, cardboard cutouts, etc. The story mode in LBP2 is fun, but it didn't have the same feel that the first did.

But on the flip side, I can't for the life of me remember what the story of LBP1 WAS. I remember the levels more than the story. But LBP2 I remember the story and why we traveled to see all these different creators and what we did. But that may just be because I played LBP2 recently.
