Glitch: realistic space backround!
Archive: 22 posts
I was experimenting the other day and I found A great glitch. So I made a giant evil eye and stuck it on some cardboard then I made it just big enough so you could see into the pupil, it will than look like space in the pupil. I'll load pictures some other time. | 2011-02-19 20:51:00 Author: Clivefan11 Posts: 106 |

yaa, its actually an easter egg put in by Mm, | 2011-02-19 23:29:00 Author: Distinct-Creator Posts: 198 |
Wouldn't it just be the texture for the pupil? Just because you can't see it easily it doesn't mean it is a glitch or an easter egg. | 2011-02-21 04:06:00 Author: Retro Posts: 104 |
Most objects that arent made of materials do have some sort of "background" that you cant see unless enlarged, and make a very cool effect when they are. | 2011-02-21 18:24:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
I Found this the other week, Its beautiful! bit glitchy to work with but well worth the effort, thought i was the first to spot it as i hadn't seen it used or mentioned yet. Oh Well! lol. I've used it in my level - Adventures Of A Space Monkey - Intro / Trailer. http://lbp.me/v/x3wtsm | 2011-02-21 19:28:00 Author: thespacemonkey187 Posts: 318 |
Really wish we just had a basic background with a starfield in that looks like the arcade mchines in the cosmos level BG, but obviously much much larger and controllable with the UV tool. Chopping up the starfield material in a glitch layer & using the UV tool still just doesn't cut it & boxing off those arcade machines is just too small an area for much gameplay (and aren't widescreen friendly to begin with). | 2011-02-21 20:28:00 Author: Unknown User |

I completely agree. Heck, I would have settle for being able to make the starfiled material actually black like space is... instead of the dark blue colour they made it. I was really surprised to find that the colour can't be tweaked to black. Maybe if we're lucky, we'll get a sci-fi pack somewhere down the line that will give us a proper space BG that's rendered nicely with the odd twinkling star, maybe a nice nebula area, or even an animated black hole. | 2011-02-22 00:59:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
I found this the same week as I got the game. ;_; | 2011-02-22 01:04:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
What is needed is a proper Space Pack DLC like the Metal Gear one etc. that would be cool. So are there anymore hidden backgrounds like this one in the game that people know about? | 2011-02-22 07:51:00 Author: thespacemonkey187 Posts: 318 |

[color=teal]Well judging from those photo's... this ain't no regular object BG texturing. This is CLEARLY an ovbious hidden gem that was put in intentionally... and is therefor an Easter Egg. Wow... it looks amazing! I gotta try this myself! | 2011-03-03 22:41:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
looks amazing doesn't it, Bit glitchy to work with though, because you can't stop the eye from blinking, but you can get some good results. You can see them in action here - Adventures Of A Space Monkey - http://lbp.me/v/x3wtsm. Does anyone know of any other hidden backgrounds?...... | 2011-03-04 13:52:00 Author: thespacemonkey187 Posts: 318 |

Ohhh you can stop the eye from blinking. or was it you can stop the eye from opening? well what i remember is it had something to do with hooking a eye to a battery i think. *mew | 2011-03-04 14:05:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Never tried that.... | 2011-03-04 15:19:00 Author: thespacemonkey187 Posts: 318 |
Would making the eye look at a tag stop it from moving and blinking? | 2011-03-04 18:38:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
Worth a try, not sure though because it even blinks in pause mode. | 2011-03-04 19:08:00 Author: thespacemonkey187 Posts: 318 |
Pretty cool looking but is there a way to use it for anything? When I was messing with it, even when my sackboy was hovering in the foreground, I couldn't see him inside the eye until I zoomed in so far that I couldn't see the space background any more. | 2011-03-04 19:56:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |

You can take a picture of it and then stick it on some material to use as a background. | 2011-03-04 19:58:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
you could use the layer Glitch and put it in the back layers. tho that's just a guess. | 2011-03-04 21:55:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
That wouldn't work as its not really a background, the title of this thread is a bit misleading. it's probably limited to getting a few nice camera shots or taking a photo and using that as a sticker. shame really..... | 2011-03-05 11:06:00 Author: thespacemonkey187 Posts: 318 |
I took like a bunch of different photos while zoomed in. The best I got was with no glare or anything, it was just the little galaxy and space. Too bad they never added an actual background like that. :C | 2011-03-05 12:03:00 Author: Devious_Oatmeal Posts: 1799 |
