Have you ever had a great idea for a level but get bored of it as soon as you start?

I know I have. I get many great ideas for levels while playing, rush to my moon, and start creating. after about 8 minutes I just get bored and stop. I try really hard to keep going, but i just dont have the patience. Iv only made 3 full levels, and those get barely ANY views. Has this happened to you? | 2011-02-19 15:58:00 Author: DominationMags Posts: 1840 |
Happens all the time. Now I just play around, I don't create real levels | 2011-02-19 16:14:00 Author: Retro Posts: 104 |
It's because it takes so long to make whatever you are making...and then you find a bug and try to fix it...only to realize that you made an even bigger bug while trying to fix that bug. | 2011-02-19 16:23:00 Author: creator22 Posts: 162 |

Usually I will start a level idea, and get a better idea while making it. Hence, I get bored of my current level, and make the new one. But then I get the same thing happen. I've only ever had one level I've stuck with without being bored, the only difference with it is that instead of getting a better level idea, I just get a better idea to do the level I'm working on, so I restart. This happens ALL the TIME to me, I have so many 20 second level pieces on my moon. | 2011-02-20 01:39:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
What happens to me is, I get my awesome idea, then I start making my level, then when I am half done, I get another awesome idea and start another level. I currently have about 5 half-done levels on my moon. | 2011-02-20 03:09:00 Author: Joey9898 Posts: 131 |
I do things a little differently, rather than get an idea an rush off to start a level I'll go to my "test moon" which looks like a madhouse full of things that constantly break and try things out there. Like if I think of a style or scene I want to use I will just make a small "set piece" in there and maybe get an idea from that and change it, but I don't think once I have thought of an idea and implemented it 100% exactly the way I had thought. I do agree with the bugs though, they can be a real pain especially half way through creating a level or better yet at the end *sigh* What happens to me is, I get my awesome idea, then I start making my level, then when I am half done, I get another awesome idea and start another level. I currently have about 5 half-done levels on my moon. This is what I do to keep my level ideas fresh, I'll start one level and then when I do get bored of it I'll start another one, I don't really like having a whole lot on at once though I find myself in one level creating things for another | 2011-02-20 05:25:00 Author: otm shank Posts: 15 |
I kinda do that. In LBP1, my moon was full of unfinished gems (all deleted now). In LBP2, I design some awesome game mechanics and then I never implement it. | 2011-02-20 10:58:00 Author: .jamo Posts: 172 |
I'm really trying to break the habit of doing this. Sadly, it's not working out too well. You should see the amount of unfinished stuff on my moon, it's no joke! | 2011-02-20 11:15:00 Author: Mr_T-Shirt Posts: 1477 |
HAppens to me all the time. Have a unfinished level that I started like a year ago on LBP1. I now just make levels that are kinda pointless but entertaining to watch. | 2011-02-20 15:03:00 Author: FEAR Posts: 337 |
I've not got bored with a level I'm making but I have had times where I've had lots of ideas and never completed the levels because I've started them, made so much progress and then come otu with another idea so I started making something else instead. All the older levels then get neglected and they never get finished because when I go back to them I can't remember what I'd actually been planning to do. I have lots of levels made anyway, I made lots in LBP1 but now I'm struggling with what to make in LBP2 but I'm sure I'll come up with something eventually. Had too many ideas in LBP1 and now not much ideas. I need to play some levels | 2011-02-20 18:46:00 Author: Elsa Posts: 164 |
As said in the above replies, this is EXTREMELY common. I know it happens to me all the time. In school I sit there thinking of ideas for levels, have a really cool idea, get home, begin to build, then I have another idea then I get bored with my old one and try out the new one. This happens again and again. I guess anyone who builds levels, halfway through they hit a wall. You just need to have enough determination to climb over it and finish what you started. | 2011-02-20 19:26:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'm pretty dedicated, and usually stick at an idea until it's finished - otherwise to me it would feel like I've wasted my time Occasionally though I'll realise my idea just isn't as fun as I imagined and scrap it so I can better spend my time making something else | 2011-02-20 22:05:00 Author: DaSpoony Posts: 191 |
Man, you guys have it easy. I have a lot of trouble coming up with ideas at all. :/ | 2011-02-20 22:40:00 Author: DrShmoogle Posts: 115 |
