Major cut scene issues. Please help.

Archive: 2 posts

I am working on a very ambitious haunted mansion level which is supposed to start with a cut scene but I have hit some snags that have stopped me from getting any further. The cut scene starts by looking at the full moon and slowly pans down to a thunderstorm and then finally the haunted mansion itself. The scene consists of about 5 camera but on a few of the transitions it pans back up to where that camera had started before it finally goes onto the next camera. After asking around on a few other forums the answer I kept getting was to use sequencers. Every time I put a camera down on a sequencer it seems to take away my ability to have transitions like pans and fades. The only answer I have been given to this second problem is to overlap the cameras on the sequencer but that isn't working for me. I could really use some guidance on this one (what am I doing wrong!) so I can get back to working on this level.

Thank you

Well the information you have been given is correct, overlap the movie cameras on the sequencer, you will find that in the movie camera placed to overlapping another will give you the option to change transition effect, it won't work on your first one it'll be after that one. I've taken a look at this myself but not really used the feature so I don't know if it works but it should do.
Sequencers surely are the best way to work around it but for the best results you may want to overlap the cameras quite a bit because the timing on sequencers is very fast, I'd say for each main section on the sequencer is probably like a second so for a good transition effect you'd perhaps need to overlap them by a couple of blocks or more
Hope that helps you out
