The unhappy faces...

I think people should have to write a few words if they a level. Otherwise these sad faces could be abused for spite etc; and it would generally help the community to be better.2011-02-19 14:28:00

While that would be nice, I don't think much can be done.

That was a problem with the first LBP rating system too. It's an inherited problem in all rating systems that let people vote. As in, they can be abused very easily.

If you forced people to write a few words, then people would just write "jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj" or "Blargity Blarg Blarg".

That's my two cents.

The solution is simple: Make better levels.

But seriously, there's no way you can make a system that gives users a freedom of choice flawless.

Pretty much what I was thinking, either that or people would just be more spiteful and write something like "ur levels suk!" or something immaturely obvious like that. No one is forced to tell someone why their level was wicked and got yay'd or hearted, and usually that stuff is always constructive. So to have it where mostly non-constructive comments are forced to be made for giving a boo isn't going to really get far IMO.

The only thing I could see work would be to log and display a person's total ratings given. By that I mean in a person's profile, on full display, show how many 's a person has given, and how many 's a person has given.

Not many people would like to be seen as giving more ratings than ratings. It might help to filter out some of the trololololol 'ing

That is a very good idea, I only boo a level I think it's really terrible, most of the time if I just don't like a level or can't make my mind up then I don't vote so the majority of my votes are always a happy face since neutral ones don't count.
People do abuse it though, I made a Krypton Factor assault in LBP1, yeah it's rubbish and basic but someone booed it in LBP2 and left the message "Good but you didn't get the K quite right" now that to me suggests that the person was abusing the system to give it a boo if that was his only problem. I deleted his review of course, it was just rubbish and not very helpful. That K I made might not be the best but it's sure the best that I can do.
I think a lot of people on LBP need to get their acts together and realise that not everyone can make an all so perfect level. I really do believe a lot of people abuse the rating and yes if it could be displayed on your profile what you normally rate levels. I can't see those people having many friends for very long when it becomes clear they boo a lot of levels.
Yes I believe the people doing this will do the same to a lot of levels, either out of jealousy because you can make a better level than they can or simply because they expect every level to be a 100% perfect.
