A Tale Of John Cuddlers

Archive: 9 posts

Hello!
Its my 1st post here, and 1st movie created in Little Big Planet. It tells the story of John Cuddlers, a very normal sack. Sometimes, he has a strange dreams, but that's all. Someday, he received a message from mayor saying, that he got for him Realy Big Prize. What happens next? Play my lvl to find out, and please leave feedback on comments or in that topic. Enjoy!

Sorry, took me a little bit to get back to your level.

Anyway, I thought the video was decent, and it has me interested in what happens next. A couple things:

1)Some camera angles felt out of place and lasted a little long
2) Some additional handmade details, rather that relying on premade, would be nice

Ok, I'll try to change that, but thermo is full now, I need to delete couple of things...

Anyway, 1st part is now out
It continues the story, it's another video lvl but next will be a platformer with magic powers

I'm so sorry I was so slow with your review! I thought I'd already done it!

Anyway here goes.

Hmm. Decent beginning but the repeated use of mm objects does put me off a little. You have nice costume design and the sets that you have made yourself are good - you should try using more of your own stuff in your next project. If thermo is a problem try looking for a guide about how to keep it low. "Cheat the thermo" is a phrase I seem to remember. try googling it.

Some of your camera angles are great, but there are others (Particularly the very last "I'll get you next time . . .") which could be much more dramatic.

I'm having a Wayne's World moment - EXTREME CLOSE UP! WAAAAAAH!

On the whole this is a good start. I know how daunting the thought of a redo is, but there are a few things you can do without affecting your thermo at all:

1. Lighting. Play about with the global lighting tool a bit more and try putting it on your sequencer to change the feel of the scenes. I'm a big fan of colour correction to give things a little extra sharpness, and changing the colour of the fog with a different setting.
2. Camera angles. In my experience with my own level, no matter how many cameras, batteries, and other little logic tidbits I used, that thermo didn't budge. So go nuts. Try playing with the keyframes between camera transitions to customise the feel of your film.
3. Set pieces. Now, I don't know how long you've been creating for so please don't be offended if this sounds a little patronising. But use a more limited palette of materials - this will really help keep your thermo lower. Stick to using three-four ideally, depending on how necessary certain things really are. (In my own, I stuck with cardboard, glass, sponge, and holo. . . i think lol) You can use whatever different colour/texture of the material you want - it's the group that matters. Use one material to make a set and try decorating and texturising it with sitckers - not only will this make the level feel more unique, but it will really help that thermo!

All in all though, a good start!

watched it and i must say its a nice idea and a cool twist, but it includes a little bit to much premade letters for my eyes. it just looks like every cheap level if you put on the normal letters from lbp. you should try to create some for your self but other than that i think that is a fine film! liked it. and i need to say the end is a little bit... ouhm? early. try to continue the story a little bit. who did this where is he now? or showing him with a victory face or anything? Sure i know it seems like you want to continue that series but i think you should end the levels a little bit like series or films end as well - whatcha think? no rude ending do it smooth. Thats what i think

if you like you can do a small review bout my level as well:

This seemed like a decent start to a fun little tale. It shows that you're still getting the hang of the cameras, as it went on the cam work got better. I won't go into great detail as much is covered above and I left you more comments in the comment section in your level. Only to say, keep up the good creating, this could be a more surreal and more interesting story than most of the dull films out there - so best of luck with it!
