'Try Spacing Things further Apart' WTF!?

Archive: 11 posts

In create mode i created some intense levels on my moon, and i am scared that they "might be at risk" yea thats right again i fear for my levels' futures!! But this time im in a big mess & not going for one. This is the long version

I created a cinematic level on Ratchet & Clank (but the gameplay is set to Cooperative). It starts with a fancy "Sony Computer Entertainment Presents" (in a font i created that is soo high quality each letter was like 50 times bigger than sackboy & i shrunk down alot so that the camera could see the letters) then it comes up with a credit to Insomniac Games (why? Because they created the idea of Ratchet & Clank! Yet another cool font i made that suited well) then the biggest thing ever!! 'Re-Created By Ratchetruler1 In a font that was created smaller than the other fonts i had made, but because of the way i desighned the letters it looked really fancy & a bit of a crossover of a Tron type font & the font that you would see on old fashioned neon sighns with the cool glowing tubes!) Then the rest is just more of the same...

But then i decided to come up with a more original idea! Robot Wars! Starting with an entry almost identical to the last! But it starts with Created By Ratchetruler1 & in bright green rather than white. Then in a very basic font (kind of like Starwars) that is made of metal & has a neon outline, using a dimmer & timer i made it soo that the outline slowly glows orange! All is going well for this project, not as into as my first Ratchet & Clank one (in wich i got way into acting) BUT! I created a disk thing (quite basic & fancy desighn, that was a key weapon/character in Robot Wars that had many energy based abilities (in Robot Wars it is a big fight for energy!!!) The disk was basic & in my opinion in Robot was everything was going well, once the words "Robot Wars" were fully glowing the disk would fly through the middle! Using a piston i made this possible, but then i tried to get fancier! I decided there would be some effects behind the disk! So using a whole bunch of emmiters each one side by side on the disk it emmited lots of sparkle effect things behind it, i noticed no unusual stuff. BUT WHEN I WENT TO PLAY! It went (something like) " D B ET ER" I got infuriated at this point. Then was "ROBOT RS" *Disk flys through* and when i went to create... i got the message! TRhat i needed to space things further apart! I knew it was the effects from the disk because before i added them it worked fine. Things were messed up all over. Those Yellow circle/star things with exclamations marks inside where all over! So i deleted the whole disk setup & still the level was stuffed! And the rewind did not help one bit!

Later i just deleted the level and started all over again! But i got the effects going well & then it happened! But afet the effects? Infact after i decided to check the neon lights all over the level it stuffs up! I tried to copy my stuff and play in another place, but it seemed as if hardly any of my things could have been saved! I have deleted the disk yet again & am NOT going to dele my level again! So how can i save it? Is there an update or something that could help? Is this problem going to spred any more? Since i cannot seem to recreate on blank levels! Will my existing ones be at a risk of 'Try Spacing Things Further apart' and i have way worse spacing in my other levels

If it does however destroy my other levels & cannot be reversed then i will no longer create, and am getting fed up with these problems LittleBigPlanet 2 sure is challenging my pacience! And i have had some pretty nice complements on my strongest ability (pacience)

I get that message all the time. My stuff still works fine though, so I just ignore it. Don't know what's going on with your stuff, but not so sure it's that message.2011-02-18 09:44:00

No worries dude, you shouldn't really worry about that, it deosn't really damage levels or anything, its just a reccomendation, so the level isn't too lagy.

Its like saying "Its too crowded, so expect a few glitches" basically.
Zooming in, or spreading out/ deleting onjects should fix it, tho its not a big deal if you don't.
(Unles its like SERIOSULY a lot of stuff, then ya, may wanna simplify it.)

yea it skrewed my level, not just the message but many letters are missing & some are repaced by the yellow symbol. The damage is done. But can it be reversed & this level is not nearly as complicated as past levels i was working on (wich i do not want to touch because i dont want em wrecked) I dunno? I think i'll just back all my good stuff up then move off LBP2 for a while (till i get internet working then maybe i can get the "Cupcake" & my DLC... Oh and my friends i havent seen in months I still got Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time! And those are the only two games i could afford 2011-02-18 21:21:00

IT HAS BECAME A HORRIBLE GAME ERROR! I've found it is lying & completly incorrect! For i decided to PLAY my existing R&C Cinematic level &... AND!.. It has struck the PROBLEM! It is not limited and destroyed two of my best levels (well one being my No. 1 creation!). I now know that my game has skrewed itself & i am NOT repared to restart anything! Please. If anone comes across this, tell me & then i may know that this is not a 1 in 1000000 chance thing. And hopefully can be fixed! I need to know if i can somehow disable the yellow symbols! If i cannot get an anser from Mm (i will see their website for help). I dont know if i wanna continue into the game 2011-03-01 04:52:00

You have too much complexity - your font is too complex, your emitters are doing too much, your disk is too fancy. Use fewer things in general. The exclamation symbol is what LBP uses to protect itself from trying to display too much - having lots of objects, vertices, or stickers (anything, really) visible at once will start popping them up.

Take pictures of the fancified letters and paste the sticker on a simpler surface to cut down on font complexity.

I get this message in one of the levels I am creating when zooming out too far or adding more lighting effects/visible holo; there is a whole bunch of it stacked together already, so I am not surprised.

In LBP1 I was so overwhelmed by what the game allows me to do, I went in head first only to soon hit the limitations of the game. In LBP2 I take limitations as a given, even though it can do way more than LBP1. So my advice is usually: be conservative with details. Know how much of it is required for a good atmosphere. Try to simplify. Use tricks and suggestion instead of real complex objects or animations. Set up details in ways that allows you to remove them without much trouble later on, if deemed necessary. Prioritize.

Your level is too complex, like others have said. That doesn't mean you have to compromise on quality; probably you can do many of your things in more efficient ways. I remember being as frustrated as you whilst working on a Duke Nukem 3D level years back - I had put shadows on EVERYTHING and the editor just kept crashing whenever I tried adding anything new. I didn't realise it was a complexity problem until a year later whilst working on something else that made me think back to it.

The answer you're looking for is that the PS3 is only capable of so much before its work-load is just too high. You're learning the hard way what sorts of things will eat up your system memory and CPU power, but the thermometer is there in Create mode to give you an idea along the way. Objects with lots and lots of points = bad. Lots of objects in general = bad. Lots of different types of sticker = bad. Lots of colliding objects = bad. You can get away with a LOT but from what I've read here, you put too much in Sucks, I know, but there's nothing you can do but trim it back and optimise.

One of the worst things about this is walking into a community level, playing your way through it, only to be met by a screen full of yellow warning signs and missing objects. It has happened to me a few times now.2011-03-01 14:02:00

As many others have said. Too much in too small a space. It sounds like you're pretty int o your titles and fonts - but one thing is going to have to get the chop - its the font or the effects!

If you had simpler fonts, or maybe a little less going on around them, perhaps that would help keep your thermo lower.

I don't think you need to delete your whole levels tho (though I could be wrong) - dont the warning signs go away when the level stops overheating (ie when you take a few thermo heavy details away)

Also, I'll try not to say anything about robot wars levels . . .

i know it is a problem with the game since i used disolve and stuff alot. But a big thing is that the thermometer is very low & not even a quater full yet. The icons show on almost everything. I tried deleting all the emmiters & ojects they were on, but that changed nothing. Rewinding to the point before the problem occured was nothing too i'm skrewed & dont wish to create for much longer. Remember this spread over all my levels. Even ones that worked fine before! And ones with no complexity whatsoever. I know this sounds mad but... My LBP2 has got problems... And i doubt getting it online would help either 2011-03-03 04:23:00
