cut scene

Archive: 12 posts

I'm trying to make a cut scene level, but when I change the game mode and try playing it a it just shows somewhere in the middle of the map, even if I've put a camera right next to the checkpoint it's really annoying.2011-02-18 02:52:00

You must have it set to cut-scene mode, this mode enables you to not spawn from any checkpoints, so unless the cut-scene starts without player detection or you turn cut-scene mode off, it won't work. 2011-02-18 02:55:00

I got exactly the same problem, I see other levels with cutscenes and after I made a movie level I sudden realised that I should have set the gameplay mode to cutscene but I can't figure out how to trigger the sequencers without cut scene detection. I sure found where the camera freezes in cut scene mode but trigger the level to play without player sensors is beyond me. If someone can give me some advice I'd be very grateful, otherwise I guess my movie level will just have to stay published as a cooperative level rather than an actual cut scene level looooooool
I probably sound so daft to the experts on this forum too, that's why I don't post too much, there's so much advanced tech on here I don't understand and a high expectation of levels too

I know what you mean, having a cut scene in a cooperative level is a little weird :L2011-02-19 09:51:00

To start the cutscene without player dectection hook up a battery to the sequencer. (I assum you are using sequencers, right? They make things much easier.)
If the sequencer isn't stopping for some reason, there's a little workaround: put the seqeuncer on a small piece of invisible holo and put a destroyer at the end of the sequencer.

i still cant work it out, because battery outputs on a sequencer wont go into a camera on a sequencer, and you need trigger radius for the sequencer to start anyway :/2011-02-19 11:15:00

I wouldn't worry about that on LBPCentral. The ppl here realize that everyone has different skill levels. I'm no expert But the people here will help if they can. I've only started to play with the new cam functions. I haven't come across the problem above but if ppl join up in create mode we might be able to work it out.

My cousin was having the exact same problem and kept asking me about it. It's really not very obvious if you're new to the game and haven't tried making a cutscene level before, so this is yet another game mode Mm should have really provided a tutorial for...

That sounds like a good idea. I'll have to try it out and see if it works for me, then my cousin will finally stop whining about it

Thanks I will give that a try and if it doesn't work then I at least thank you for trying to help
Also I don't think that trying to attach something to a movie camera on a seuqencer is a good idea, it might work but you're really best to attach something to the start playing forward input of the sequencer that is how it's all done in my level anyway.
I published it without realising I should have set it as a cut scene, there's a slight mistake in my level so hopefully now I'll be able to fix it and get it working the way I want
Thanks for the help I'll come back if it doesn't work and see if there's anything else than anyone can suggest
Lolz, never thought of using a battery
EDIT: This didn't work but I have found a way to get it to work now so if anyone else is still struggling just post and I'll tell you how it's done
I'd put it in the edit but I doubt anyone will be reading so....

Make sure everything is correct in your level and once you are satisfied with the level, pause the level, place a timer with a few seconds delay and attach it to the start playing forward of the sequencer that needs to work first, if you are unhappy with the picture in delay mode you can always blank out the level for the few two or three seconds that you set the timer for but remember if you unpause the timer will activate too early so you must add that at the last minute and keep the level in pause mode then when you change to play mode, once the timer is up it'll start the sequencer for you
That's the best way I know and it sure works for me, hope it works for you too
