I had an idea for a game that utilizes 4-players in an adventure-game setting, and I've been working on it for a week or so now. I've since had some concerns about how much it would actually get played considering the rarity it is to find complete groups of four players that can communicate and work together well enough to actually enjoy it. It's becoming a pretty complex project, so the thought of few, if any, people being able to appreciate it is starting to worry me to the point that I'm considering scaling the level down to only require two players. So, I'm turning to a community of enthusiasts to ask if there's actually any demand out there for any games that require 4-player cooperation? While I am concerned about the amount of people that can enjoy it, I also think of my own experiences on the Play side, when I have 4 people playing together locally, and either A). Struggling to get through a level that doesn't work well when played with 4 people, or B). Being stuck playing 6 or 7 versions of the same type of 4-player Vs. Levels. At the same time, requiring 2 players instead of 4 would increase the amount of full playthroughs the game would get. As you can see by the sloppy way that this post was formatted, I'm very much back-and-forth on this one, so any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds great. I'd love, and I think any level or design that can afford the thermometer for four characters or logic set up that can do it without conflicting should be as multiplayer friendly as it can be.

Is 4-player REQUIRED Well, that's just it, really. 4 players could be required, and I think it would add to the overall experience, but I could also scale it back to require only two players as well. I'm kind of at a crossroads in the creation at the moment, and have to decide now before moving on. your upcoming super special awesome mega chocolatey fudge-coated kawaii desu moai level? I can only hope you'd use those very words to describe the level after you've played it...! Sounds great. It's right around this mid-way point that the "hours-invested to progress-seen" ratio begins to take one's creative-esteem down a few notches...

I'd definitely make a point of searching out 3 online pals if there was a 4 player only level, i don't think there's ever been one. Keep us posted....!

I'll definitely keep you posted by begging for help every other day more so than giving updates. Believe me, this thread is not about building hype. The last thing I want to do is give anyone any lofty expectations that the level can't live up to. My existing LBP1 levels aren't the greatest, and are certainly not the type of pedigree one should have before attempting something ambitious. Instead, like I said, there's not much sense in dumping a ton of time into a project if people can't enjoy it, so I've been tossing around the idea of scaling back to two players the entire time I've been building it. But now I'm at the point where I have to commit one way or the other, and was simply looking for some other takes on it. I thank you all for providing that.
