[Glitch] Sorry, you do not own your level.

Archive: 14 posts

I noticed this terrifying glitch while creating a level I was going to publish in LittleBIGPlanet?2, near completion, I decided to show my friend the level, and he arrived while in play mode. All worked fine, just a Timer I added I forgot to make visible, still functional however. I quickly went into create mode, friend still there, and tweaked it to be visible. Back to play mode. Then eventually he left, and so I went back into create mode to make sure everything else was fine. Except I couldn't. It said I was missing 3 packs, which were probably on the friend's costume, I don't know why it does this, but yeah, it said I was missing 3 packs so I can't edit it. I actually HAD one of the packs it displayed, too(PotC).

I'm suuuure the level is pretty much fine, and of course I can still publish it, but no edits to be made unfortunately.

Sooooo..can this be passed along or is there a fix?

well a friend of mine had the same problem( and it was kindof my fault) what we did was he published the level and made it copyable, I then went and copied it to my moon, we then located whatever caused the problem and deleted it and then published it again and then re-copied it back to his moon to make sure everything was fine and it was, and now he is still working on the level right now I think.

I hope this helps

I had to do this with a friend 'cause his sackbot was set to player 2 costume. on top of that, he had thew key glitch from LBP1 still and couldn't copy his own level back from my earth, so he had to just capture everything he could from the level on my moon.

maybe they should make it so sackbot's don't copy the player # costumes until play mode.

Or just make so something you don't own can be removed. Only removed.2011-02-18 05:54:00

Something like "to open in create as-is requires these DLC packs, press L3 to remove DLC and open level.2011-02-18 06:45:00

Yeah, this happened to me too, stupid sackbots. I actually didn't get my level back because there was the DLC only I had in the level, and the DLC only he had :/ I think that this ^ idea would be a very good idea, but for now I've had to settle with only setting any sackbots to 2/3/4 player costume when im about to publish the level2011-02-18 06:56:00

Seems likely to be fixed, otherwise it would be an unnecessary pain.2011-02-18 07:14:00

This would be a great feature, but what would happen if a material had been used for a large portion of the level? If the DLC was removed, it would need to change any materials to perhaps the default cardboard or something, otherwise it would just end up removing large areas of a level. Stickers and decorations going missing wouldn't be a problem, but whole areas of level being removed as a result would be bad. So hopefully if this feature was ever done, it would just change the materials to another which is valid.

I added this glitch to the LBP2 Bugs list (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=44678-Lbp2-bugs-list&p=779652&viewfull=1#post779652).
Hope you can find some kind of temporary fix! Maybe give your level to somebody else so that s/he can change the Sackbot's costume or something. (If you haven't done so already.)

It's been like this for a long while, I locked myself out of editing a level on lbp1 by trying to use the sticker edit tool to pilfer a dlc sticker from a community level.2011-02-18 13:27:00

Sadly, this has been a problem since day one of the beta, so early on, I took to the habit of always saving to a new crater if there was someone else in OC with me, which is probably a little unnecessary, since I also make several profile backups a day when I'm working on stuff, and I always make one before letting anyone else into one of my levels, particularly if I intend to save the changes. This may sound like I have little faith in the people I invite, but it's actually that I have little faith in the LBP2 source code.

I now have close to 100 profile backups, which may sound like a lot of wasted space, but I'd rather waste a bit of space than lose what I've been working on. I still find it shocking that so many people still don't bother making backups - I see all these "my profile is borked - RAEG!" posts on here, and I don't even bother to reply with "So, just revert to your last backup", cos 99% of the time, they never made one.

My profile currently weighs in at about 10MB, and given the 120GB drive I have, that means I can make over 10,000 profile backups before space becomes an issue, but you can always just start deleting the older ones as you create newer ones - it's not dissimilar to the rather primitive version control system on Vax/VMS.

To summarize: all hardware sucks, all software sucks (http://www.catb.org/jargon/html/A/All-hardware-sucks--all-software-sucks-.html), and LBP2 is software, therefore it sucks, so make backups... lots and lots of them... all the time.

Sounds perfectly fine to me if they simply deleted the stock. Why did the person build with something they didn't own in the first place?
A better fix would be that someone entering create mode with you wouldn't be able to use something the host didn't pay for. This way the problem would be truly solved.

i don't think you're able to place anything in a level that you don't own other than sackbot's autocopying a costume anyway. you can't place MGS material down or use it to fill if the host doesn't own it. it sounds like that sticker thing rabid-coot mentioned might be troublesome too. i remember something way back that when you'd pick up a sticker of someone's level, it would sometimes auto disappear.
