Stupid questions about the Magic Mouth
Archive: 4 posts
These are all probably very simple questions that I should feel foolish for asking about, but neither the Magic Mouth tutorial nor the wiki entry for Magic Mouths were any help. 1. What does the "Display Subtitles" option do, and what do I do to make it not greyed out? 2. If I want to have nothing but a recording to come out of a magic mouth, is there a way to make it not spit out an empty speech bubble? I feel like there'd almost have to be, but I can't figure out how. 3. What does the "Ducker" option do? 4. What does the Magic Mouth's output do? I assumed it just made the thing act like a node or something, but it doesn't look that way. | 2011-02-17 18:06:00 Author: Speed Racer Posts: 156 |
1. What does the "Display Subtitles" option do, and what do I do to make it not greyed out? When the mouth is on a sequencer this makes it so white text shows up at the bottom of the view instead of from a speech bubble. 2. If I want to have nothing but a recording to come out of a magic mouth, is there a way to make it not spit out an empty speech bubble? I feel like there'd almost have to be, but I can't figure out how. Use the above with no text. 3. What does the "Ducker" option do? It lowers the volume of all other audio while the mouth is active. 4. What does the Magic Mouth's output do? I assumed it just made the thing act like a node or something, but it doesn't look that way It sends output when the mouth is over - either the hold time has expired from the sequencer or the user closed the speech bubble. This insures a chain of events exactly in sequence with the mouth. | 2011-02-17 18:34:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
1. I'm not sure, but I think that is for when you make a voice recording. I may be wrong about that though. 2. I have no idea on that too. 3. I don't knowwww. 4. That is something you use when you connect an output wire from the Magic Mouth to something else. Like, you could have a row of Magic Mouths, the first has an output wire connected to the next Mouth's input, the second Mouth has an output wire connected to the third magic mouth and so on. Once you activate the first Magic Mouth and finish reading it, pressing O to close the speech bubble would activate the next Mouth, then closing the second mouth's bubble would activate the next and continues. The output would do something after you close the Magic Mouth's speech bubble. Yeah, I wasn't much help except for the 4th question. EDIT: Nooooooo!! Foofles, you sniped me. *Gasping for breath* *Dies, then comes back from the dead a few seconds later, completely normal and not a zombie* | 2011-02-17 18:36:00 Author: Black265 Posts: 208 |
Oh, okay, so it sounds like you basically have to stick a mouth on a sequencer to get all the functionality you want out of it. Great, thanks! | 2011-02-17 18:41:00 Author: Speed Racer Posts: 156 |
