I'm scaling away...

Quite often I find myself wanting to scale a decoration at placement time larger than it wants to go. In LBP2 working around this limitation is much easier than in LBP1, you place the decoration on an invisible triangle of holo, scale up the holo and glue it in place. As long as the decoration isn't scaled to an unreasonable size there are no display anomalies with this approach...but it would certainly be far more convenient if the size limiter was removed from the place decoration tool.

On the flip side...I occasionally want to scale a sticker smaller than is allowed. To work around this you have to scale the object up, place the sticker, and then scale the object back down. This can be problematic if the object is glued to something, in a cramped area, or needs to be a precise size, etc...sure would be nice to remove this limitation as well. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE start displaying the dot at the sticker origin again during placement...does anyone actually think removing this was an improvement?!?

And to round out our scaling trifecta, an enhancement request for the uv mapping tool to allow scale adjustment. This is a very handy new tool, currently left/right on the right stick allows a material's texture to be rotated, up/down currently does nothing...would be great to be able to control the texture scale. There have been times where a material would have been perfect for my use case if only it's texture scale was slightly larger/smaller.

So that's why I'm having such a hard time stickering!? I can't tell you how many times I've placed stickers on the wrong object in LBP2, very very annoying.

I'd like to be able to also change the point origin of the sticker. Sometimes I want to put it onto an object with the end of a sticker, but have to do it from the middle of it otherwise it doesn't go onto that object. 2011-02-17 21:47:00

Oh yes, absolutely...currently to do this I'll create a zinger out of my shape with the corner editor so that I have some geometry for the origin to land on, place the sticker and then remove the added vertex. What I was thinking is you just need to be able to pre-select the shape to sticker, at which point the sticker placement tool wouldn't need the sticker origin to identity the element so it would be ok if it was in space. The other option would be a tool like the uv-mapping tool for stickers to let you slide the sticker around after placement.

I've been using the fantastic new hide-layer capability, L1, to turn off surrounding geometry when placing big stickers to avoid having it inadvertantly stick to the wrong shape since I don't have any clue where the sticker origin is anymore.
