Hmmmm...is this possible? :o

I was playing with my friend on LBP2 and he was the game leader. We played a somewhat bad level and my friend YAY!'ed it. After that level, we played a good level, and my friend BOO'ed it. I asked him why he gave the bad level a YAY and the good level a BOO...and he said because the good level was better than his level that he was makingl. I was surprised. Then I wondered, could people BOO levels just because they are jealous of how good the level is.... Maybe it's just my weird friend. <3 | 2011-02-17 11:51:00 Author: creator22 Posts: 162 |
It's a bit harsh if they do! people should take inspiration from good levels not slag them off with a bad mark just because they've done something you couldn't | 2011-02-17 12:29:00 Author: thespacemonkey187 Posts: 318 |
thats just weak, I hope your friend has karmic problems. | 2011-02-17 12:53:00 Author: EinRobot Posts: 739 |
I'd say it's totally possible. Sadly, that's how some people are. Human emotion is a strong thing, so when someone is jealous. It's no big deal for them to do something as trivial as throw down a sad face. | 2011-02-17 13:24:00 Author: smasher Posts: 641 |
You can't expect people to use the game properly. Humans are irresponsable, jealous, egoistic, etc. Of course this sort of things will happen when you give people a choice and ask them to be just and responsable. | 2011-02-17 13:39:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Hmm. LBP.me only shows you who rated your levels 4 or 5 stars in LBP1, but if you check the recent activity of your LBP1 levels from your LBP2 moon, you can see EVERY rating that people have given your level. I was shocked last night to see just how many people are rating my Mm pick, Space Assassins, as 1 star. Now I like to be modest about my skills as a creator, but I'm not stupid. An LBPC spotlight, an Mm pick and a level that has been described by many players as "one of the best I've ever played"? This tells me that Space Assassins is, at the very least, an above average quality of level. Yet there is a steady stream of 1 star ratings trickling in that seem inconsistent with the 4/5 star rating that other people have given it. So go figure....are kids rating this level one star because they genuinely believe it is the absolute dregs of the lbp barrel, or is there a certain mentality of spite and jealously being adopted by a section of the community towards creators who have had some measure of success in the game? I'm strongly inclined to believe the later. Interestingly though, if you check the profile details of these 1 star raters on LBP.me, an overwhelming majority of them fit into one of the following categories... a player who has chosen to hide their profile a player who has made no levels of their own a creator who has made a couple of mediocre levels that have few plays and poor ratings. At a guess I would say that the first two categories are mostly players who aren't here to play nicely....malicious and attention seeking troublemakers who get their kicks from ruining the game experience for others. The kind who camp at spawn sites in FPS games, with their modded weapons and invincibility hacks. The third category, I believe to be acting out of jealousy. Creators of limited talent who made some attempt to build their own levels but got shot down by the community, and who now spend their time "getting their own back", downrating creators who have earned the kind of recognition which they crave for themselves. That's my assessment of the situation anyhow, and I think the only way to avoid being targetted by these people is to make mediocre, low profile levels that don't encourage malicious players to take an interest or cause jealous creators to feel threatened. | 2011-02-17 13:44:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |

OH!! and wo likes Naruto Costumes play this level Naruto Pain Costumes or queue up this in LBP.ME http://lbp.me/v/sdtrvs | 2011-02-17 13:54:00 Author: Unknown User |

Exactly! For example, in the Beta, each time one of my level was rated , it was by someone in those categories! I'm not saying all my levels deserves good ratings, but when a bad rating comes from people like that, I just don't take it seriously, even if it's a little annoying... | 2011-02-17 13:59:00 Author: dajdaj03 Posts: 1486 |
I really would not care about it, majority there are still people who rate for reasonable reasons. i would not bash people who rate bad, that have crappy levels, no levels or hidden profile, they might have there legal reasons why they don't like it, i bet some of them simply don't like style or how level is made, ofcorse some better creator who think more in artistic way will rate you good. You can see that in real life reviews of normal people, CoD for example there ton of people who love multiplayer in it and there large group of people who hate CoD. Oh and one more hting, there no such thing as objective review, all depends on the person likes | 2011-02-17 14:09:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
People are people, and yeah of course it's possible that people will just leave bad ratings or comments out of spite. I tend to just ignore random idiots. Personally I tend to believe in the "If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all" approach, aside from genuinely constructive criticism. | 2011-02-17 14:17:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I tend to just ignore random idiots. Exactly the reason I don't care why someone has put a sad face on my level. If you're gonna put levels out there, then some people are gonna rate them with a sad face. Does it really matter why? It doesn't to me. | 2011-02-17 15:32:00 Author: smasher Posts: 641 |
I think that if Mm removed the BOO option it would end all the hurt feelings and carelessness that this is bringing to the game. They would still be able to YEA if they liked the level or leave a comment if they liked, (GOOD OR BAD), and lets not forget about the HEART option thats still there. I have a 8 year old that created a level, so I published it for him. He takes the BOO'S a little hard. And that leaves me with the old saying, If you do not have anything nice to say, do not say anything at all. | 2011-02-17 15:39:00 Author: Knucklerider Posts: 72 |
Nooo don't take boos away, I like Booing the PLAY MY GLITCHED CROWN LEVEL comments... | 2011-02-17 16:00:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
Well adding a "Trophy" for 160 boos and yays kinda makes it impossible to not get boos. Alot of trophy hunters are online and will simply Boo a level just to get this trophy. | 2011-02-17 16:09:00 Author: fijski8 Posts: 159 |
* a player who has chosen to hide their profile * a player who has made no levels of their own * a creator who has made a couple of mediocre levels that have few plays and poor ratings. I think the main reason why MM removed stars and replaced them with a simple system of YAY's or Boo's is because of the above quote. | 2011-02-17 16:15:00 Author: creator22 Posts: 162 |
Headbutt your friend, or rub some toast in his face. Tell him how it should be done, and maybe he'll understand better. | 2011-02-17 16:21:00 Author: KQuinn94Z Posts: 1758 |
Nooo don't take boos away, I like Booing the PLAY MY GLITCHED CROWN LEVEL comments... You will still be able to leave a nasty comment if they make you that upset. Just how many YEA'S do you think a level like that would get ? My guess is 0. | 2011-02-17 16:58:00 Author: Knucklerider Posts: 72 |
Well adding a "Trophy" for 160 boos and yays kinda makes it impossible to not get boos. Alot of trophy hunters are online and will simply Boo a level just to get this trophy. They decided to reward players for booing levels?! Well that's just asking for trouble. | 2011-02-17 17:51:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
I was mostly kidding Comments are the most important part though since its what people actually see. | 2011-02-17 17:56:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
Could we start a poll to see what the community thinks about removing the BOO ? So far I think we have a couple of YEA'S. | 2011-02-17 18:03:00 Author: Knucklerider Posts: 72 |
Im sure people rate levels bad because they are jealous, I mean im sure at one point all of you have been jealous of a level or a certain creator... But Rating a level bad because its better then your level is not a very good reason to boo the level.. | 2011-02-17 18:06:00 Author: Tawarf Posts: 457 |
Could we start a poll to see what the community thinks about removing the BOO ? So far I think we have a couple of YEA'S.On one hand I have thought "Wow, Boo is a harsh word" but on the other hand, it's just a game. "Yay" or "Meh" would have been better imo. | 2011-02-17 18:08:00 Author: EinRobot Posts: 739 |
i think there should be a trophy for getting or levels boo'ed, since there is one for boo'ing other people... but seriously, i think MM knewed it from the start (knewed that people whould boo other people just for jeoulousy or for rising their chances of being on the cool pages), and since they done nothing to prevent it, maybe (and just maybe) they believe it is "fair game", or simple strategy, i mean, they arent stupid they realise these things when vthey see there isnt one single "awsome" level in the internet (i consideer awsome any level that isnt offering trophies, giving prizes, asking for hearts, etc...) that hasnt a couple of boo's... | 2011-02-19 01:11:00 Author: nosemomkey Posts: 414 |
What? That guy is... weird... (No ofense) That?s the world?s order: Remake of the best retro game!: YAY fun ball funny lol h4h: BOO | 2011-02-19 02:18:00 Author: ALEXhatena Posts: 1110 |
I'm not saying that we should remove BOO. I love booing levels that have dark matter in a visible area. It's just that some people use it in the wrong way. My first level had some BOO's which is cool, I mean you can't satisfy everyone, but the majority of those people who BOO'ed my level blocked people from seeing their profile or had levels published that had the phrases h4h, shark suvriral or some weird combination of words. Just saying... SIDE NOTE: I think it was stupid that they made a trophy for boo'ing levels. | 2011-02-19 12:03:00 Author: creator22 Posts: 162 |
Some enemies rate my levels 'Boo' because I am their enemy... Boo you too! | 2011-02-19 12:44:00 Author: Unknown User |
i never rate good levels bad i mean like say if i played a level that had a very good detail good story line ect. but if i didnt enjoy the level but i could see that the guy put alot of effort into it i would still give it a | 2011-02-19 13:32:00 Author: howMUCHforBOUNTY Posts: 623 |
There isn't a trophy for booing levels, it's for YAYs OR BOOs. Ya'll make it sound like all they wanted was boos. | 2011-02-19 13:43:00 Author: Unknown User |
That trophy will come your way if you rate 160 YAYs, though, not a single BOO. In the end, what people rate is their own call, there's no advantage to BOOing anything - except, perhaps to mark the rubbish levels out there as they deserve. H4H levels come to mind. | 2011-02-19 14:21:00 Author: Unknown User |
Believe it or not, as moody and miserable as I am rumoured to be, I very rarely boo anyone's levels. It just feels wrong. I believe that most of the crappy levels out there have had some measure of love and care put into them, even if the creator lacked the skills or talent to produce anything of quality. Whether you are the greatest or the lamest creator ever, it makes no difference....a creator is a human being, and boos and abusive comments can be really hurtful. I look at it like my 5 year old daughter showing me a picture she has drawn. It may look like a scribble, but naturally I will still praise her for what she has created, because with encouragement her confidence will increase and she may potentially become a great artist one day. Ridicule a kid's best efforts and you are potentially creating a bitter, jaded monster who will go around downrating levels out of an irrational sense of vengeance against the community which spurned them. So, I generally rate 95% of levels with a "yay", whether good or bad. However, as I have said before, I have no tolerance towards those who attack me without provokation and kind as I am with my ratings, if you send me a comment calling me a "***" just because you feel like being a cocky little troublemaker, then I will most likely spam every level you ever made with the most hurtful comments you ever heard in your life. I may be a big softie at heart, but I have a sharp tongue and I will not turn my cheek when you strike me. Basically, make your best effort to create something and I'll give you a biscuit whether the final product is good or bad. Come around my pod acting a prick, and you'll get a smack in the face. | 2011-02-19 14:23:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
I agree with Ungreth. For the most part, if I play a good level- I give it a YAY! If I play a bad level, I don't give it any rating. Simple solution. | 2011-02-27 02:11:00 Author: creator22 Posts: 162 |
Lol @ booing crown level. I just booed a levle for spamming me and told him I would remove it if he played 20 people's random levels, beat 10 of them, did not leave spam on them and did not play my level (that could be considered a bribe...I should have added do not smile my level because that would also seem like a bribe). | 2011-02-27 03:49:00 Author: celsus Posts: 822 |
Right, we know they're... Bad at creating, but they don't try, for 3 years I was from crap to famous... Easy... The only materials they use are dark matter and sponge, they can't be bothered to scroll down and have better materials... They are 8 year olds, LBP should be a 15. | 2011-02-27 09:20:00 Author: Unknown User |
...for 3 years I was from crap to famous... Easy... Sorry, who are you? I agree with Ungreth. For the most part, if I play a good level- I give it a YAY! If I play a bad level, I don't give it any rating. Simple solution. Thats exactly what I do. I'm pretty sure I've only ever given 1 frown... & that was to a level of a creator impersonating Mm, and saying that 'Mm' weren't making anymore levels until 'Mm' got enough hearts. | 2011-02-27 13:54:00 Author: Nurolight Posts: 918 |
They are 8 year olds, LBP should be a 15. No, just no. Anyway, I consider a level Yay worthy if I liked it, I boo it if I didn't like it. Simple as that. | 2011-02-27 16:33:00 Author: Radishlord Posts: 706 |
