This is my first published level. I had an idea to make a series of levels based on school subjects. While creating the "teacher" objects and mapping out the levels, I decided to let the creative juices flow and made a survival challenge for the lunch period. I've seen too many survival challenges with bombs and gas; I decided fire would be a good fit for the food theme. The fiery fried chicken drops from emitters from 3 thin panels that move back and forth across the top of the level (out of site). A logic system turns on additional 3-panel emitter systems. Eventually, the pieces of chicken get bigger and are more difficult to avoid. Score bubbles drop in a similar fashion. The Lunch Lady is modeled from the lunch provider from my grade school. She was fairly naive, but her food wasn't too bad (pizza days were the best). I put a good deal of effort into making the lunch lady object. I didn't want her to not be seen after the initial start of the level, so I added the little scene beneath the level in which she is throwing chicken drumsticks into the deep-fryer. The moving of the entrance to the level was difficult. Pistons tend to bend and break when they are stretched a long distance and have a weight on the end. I also had to avoid the emitter devices at the top of the level. Eventually, I managed to get the entrance to pull up to a small panel on a track with a rocket. The rocket pushes the entrance over above the scoreboard, then dissolves, leaving the entrance right above the scoreboard. Survive long enough (a fanfare will play when successful) and the lunch lady object will emit as a prize bubble at the scoreboard.
