Put good, older levels that never had a shot to be placed on cool levels page, on the

...cool levels page. if your level is not on the cool levels page, it wont get played (1 or 2 here and there, maybe). its that simple. yet when i look on the cool levels page, its nothing but recently published levels. of course theres not room for every new level to get a shot, so only very few levels get a chance at getting a decent number of plays. theres no doubt that for every decent level with 10,000 plays theres 10 decent ones with 0-30. for every exceptional level with a decent number of plays, theres probably an exceptional one with just a few. and the bad levels on the cool levels page are surely matched by thousands of unplayed levels.

so basically there are good levels that take weeks, hell maybe months, to get a sample size of unique players that information of how ppl like it can be drawn. so these older levels that have just trickles of plays but come with many yays and few nays should be placed opn the cool levels page.

...yes i published a level that only got a few plays, and that is partly the reason i am posting this. but my level was never on the cool levels page, and never had more than 2 ppl playing it at once unless in a 2p game, yet in 20 plays it has 15 yays to only 1 nay, with 6 hearts. i dont think my level is some spectacular level (the gameplay, however is absolutely solid, and there are cool visual effects) but i know its done as good as most levels on the cool levels page in their first 20 players. so why should one level have a chance while levels of equal or greater popularity potential go unplayed? why not replace level x with 1 nay for every 3 yays, yet it has 15000 unique players with that level that never had a chance thats getting a 10:1 yay to nay ratio?

if 1 nay to 15 yays and 6 hearts in 20 plays = practically 0 unsolicited plays for as long as the LBP2 exists, there is no sense in publishing levels for the community, because luck matters more than anything quite apparently

It would be not fair and people already consider cool pages not fair, remeber that current publish rate is huge (few 10k per day) and all of those levels should have chance to be on cool pages. Maybe try to adrvite you level more posting thread on LBPC showcase and other LBP sites, make you friend play your level in first hours after publish, if you dont have enough LBP friends then hunt for random people and play your level, this actions increase you chance to get to cool pages. Once you level land on lower levels of cool pages you should have constant plays around 3, then all depends on those people rate.

Your level looks interesting i queued it but it's too late for it to be on cool pages trough

thats wut im saying. theres no reason for it to be too late.

how about, if a level is republished, and it meets some criteria based on its stats, it gets put on the cool pages? i for one will not bother to create a lengthy, detailed level if how many plays it gets will either be something like <40 or >10,000, and its all luck.

It need to handle publish rate so they can't go take old levels, or else new once will never flow up.Cool pages need to detect cool levels automatically and only way to detect that is player rating, also preventing cheating. Old LBP1 cool pages allowed to show republished level and there was 7 day rule, some people used that to take over cool pages and take contol of it

So they got argoryth and it takes lot of factors and i bet it also includes reliability of data (more people played = more accurate data), i can see 2 reasons why quality levels leaves dead

-Your level is not enoth played and system can't decide how good your level is due low ralibility of data
-there too high push to cool pages and you level is not considered better

Keep in mind it's impossible to make 100% fair automatic trending system, since machines can't understand art and can't review the level, all they can do is believe in those who can, as. And this system need to keep up with the new levels flow so it can't care about old levels or else they will be jamed.

I know how you fell since my LBP1 levels end up same and i sapnd lot of time on them, all you can do is try to advertise your level to be played on first hours and have a chance to hit cool pages.

It is just the way of LBP. We are all trying to sell Bananas while standing right next to thousands of other people selling Bananas. Chances are very good that some tasty Bananas are going to be over-looked. Man.... Now I totally want a Banana 2011-02-17 05:42:00

The more input you put in the more output you get out. It's not really the case of throwing good however unoticeable levels onto the Cool filters. Cool pages is a function which people can browse through which are popular on the web and trending. Linking back to putting more input into your creations, that first 5/10 mintues you publish your level you will get maybe 5-10 plays, that will depend whether you reach cool pages therefore it will reveal it's best fitted rating by the ratio Play/Heart Ratio and Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down system. Re-publish your level is all I can say, give it a go Maybe try and get some friends to rate it up for you because as soon as you hit the requirements for Cool filters your in for a big chance of getting it noticeable.2011-02-18 18:30:00
