Unable to place winch properly

Archive: 4 posts

In the tutorial I stuck the winch in the middle of both the object and the top part. But when I try and do it in the editor it always places the ends on the most far away spot of each object. I can not figure out what I am doing wrong. Is there some trick to this? Any help would be appreciated. 2008-11-19 20:13:00

use grid mode and that will help but it really does not matter where which plane you stick the winch

Cheers!

When placing winches and rods, they will automatically "snap" to the nearest edge from the popit. Simply move your popit cursor near the edge you want to attach to (you should see a blue outline that tells you where the winch will be attached).2008-11-19 23:29:00

When you're in grid mode, the tool you're using will connect only on the actual grid lines, not the spaces between them. So if the width or height of your object has an even number of grid squares, you'll be able to center your tool perfectly. If you have an odd number of grid squares, you'll need to turn grid mode off and center it yourself using your best judgement.

Occasionally, you can build something of a certain length in one of the larger grid modes, then switch down to a lower grid mode and get your tool centered.

Not sure if this was the problem you're having, but its good to know!
