Devon: Part 1 - Can you save her in time?

The second part is out, so click here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=53484-Devon-Part-2-Help-from-an-unlikely-source) to switch to the page.
My first LBP2 level, and I'm still trying!
Do you think you can save Devon?

This is the first part of a recreation of a vision inspired by the song "Inside the Fire" by Disturbed. If anyone is familiar with the lyrics of the song, you might have an idea on where this will take place. The level is not really scary in my opinion, but some images may not be suitable for younger audiences.

The flow of the level follows a specific story in which the player attempts to save an important character before the worst could happen to her. Yes, yes, I know it's a clich? story line, but does the clich? include having to leap across the hand of evil, destroying a fire-breathing sludge monster, and dodging hungry skeletal creatures? It does...? Well...phooey...

Anyway, this level is a platformer with several uses of the power-ups to complement the gameplay. I tried as hard as I could to make the difficulty suitable for playing, since a previous level I've made was kinda known to be notoriously difficult. :/ However, most of the reviews I have gotten on this level have been full of praise, so I assure you that the level is not that bad. Give it a try if you can.

With that said, here are a couple pictures of it.

Single-player is highly recommended. Multiple players seem to mess up the sensors for some reason. If there is a problem in the level somewhere, please let me know and I will try to fix it. This level was very close to overheating when I published it, but I do hope you enjoy the level.

As for F4F, I am willing to give feedback for as many levels as time would let me. I usually try to give enough constructive criticism to help anyone when I can.

Lol, I played and reviewed this (and the second level) in game as soon as I saw that you had played my level A Nucleotrosity, and I didn't even now that you were doing F4F.

As I said in the review for Part 1 (and have copied from LBP.me), I like the blend of detail and simple colors in the visuals. Fantastic opening scene. It was fast paced and set up the level very well. The music complemented the level very nicely (as would be expected, since that is what inspired the level), and the obstacles were well made and fun. I never imagined that hell was made of cardboard though.

And for part 2: Wow, what a creative use for the creatinator. I can imagine some cool puzzles/obstacles being made for that. Once again, fantastic work on the cinematics. The visuals were also well done once again. I especially like the change in style in this level to complement the fact that I'm entering a new creature's realm.

Thank you so much again for playing through my levels guys. This level has been up for quite a while, but it's still comforting to know that there are a number of people who continue to enjoy it. I've slightly modified this level just moments ago, but only in terms of adding as many decorations and stickers as I could before the thermometer would erupt (which isn't much in my opinion ) and also changing the timing of the song in the intro; I had forgotten to check back with this level once Mm had fixed the glitch that forced music sequencers to skip the beginning couple of seconds. It should be all fixed though!

Hahahaha like I mentioned on your profile, I really did not intend to keep the entire area as cardboard but the thermo forced me to stay with it. ^^;

Played this level today and really enjoyed it. It had a Disgaea type vibe to it, with the quirky demon type characters and visit the netherworld plot. Lots of good stuff in here, unique visual environment, lots of clever gameplay including several battles. Will continue playing the series to see the plot develop further.

Thanks a bunch for playing and giving feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it For this particular level, I recreated the song "Inside the Fire" by Disturbed to be the background music (the series is based off of that one song anyway). That was the first piece of music I had ever created though, and in a way it shows because of how "retro" it sounds. I have gotten much better over time. The second part of this series has a better-sounding song in my opinion, but you'd have to get through the level a little bit in order to hear it.

I will return with feedback for your level.
