CREATION HELP Conveyor Belts!!!!

Archive: 7 posts

Hello, I am currently getting very frustrated with the Conveyor Belt concept I am trying to use emitters but for the life of me I cannot get the pieces to stay together without a half inch gap in between each emitted section.

Emitter timing is set at o.oo
max emitted. infin.
max emitted at once. 100

mover on the section piece being emitted: left/right 5.0
everything else is at default.

Thank you guys in advance.

I can't understand you very well but I assume you're trying to make a conveyer belt, and emitting the pieces. Instead of emiting the pieces, why not make a full converyer belt, with all the pieces bolted together, and then use wheels to move it.2011-02-17 00:57:00

If your belt pieces are being emitted in a hidden area you could have two movers, a slightly faster one that is active when the belt is first emitted and an impact switch that triggers only when the belt hits another belt switching a selector to activate the slower speed mover.

--Or--
you could make your emitter velocity slightly higher than your mover velocity and make sure deceleration isn't at 100%.

I had this exact same problem with a level that I'm building, but I solved it by using the grid. Each wheel has a diameter of 1 medium block, so each chunk of conveyor is exactly two wheel lengths long, and the emitter emits them on the grid as well, directly above the first two wheels (with 0.0 emit frequency). With the emitter set to expand on emit, the effect is really nice with no breaks.2011-02-17 02:12:00

I made an emitted conveyor belt and had the same problem, I dont recall how I made it work. Oh wait I slowed the mover down until the gap was acceptable (by acceptable I mean sacks can run across the belt as if it was solid) Try changing the length of the emitted piece also.2011-02-17 05:38:00

I'm using movers, and solved the gap problem by cranking up the acceleration up to 100%.

EDIT: No problem.

Thank you guys! The solution ended up being the acceleration of the mover. Pumping it up to 100% did the trick. I knew it had to be a simple mistake on my part and I was thinking WAY to hard on it.

Thanks again!
