Centering Camera on Remote-Controlled Object?

Archive: 10 posts

It's me again!
I have another issue... There's this part in my level where the player sits in a DCS in front of a computer to control a bot remotely. I did everything, put a DSC in the bot, set the controls, but when I get inside, the camera stays on sackboy and doesn't show the bot, making it impossible to control it.
I tried putting a game camera, adding input buttons into it, but the vision keeps showing sackboy.

How do I focus the camera on the remote-controlled object?

Oooooh... Ok... <_< Do I need to connect it to anything or just place it on the DSC's circuitboard?2011-02-16 20:29:00

don't put it on the DCS, put it on the sackbot, or to something that follows the sackbot when it moves a certain distance from where the camera is centered.2011-02-16 20:36:00

You might have to connect the recieving DCS's active output to the camera as well.2011-02-16 20:42:00

i'm not controlling a sackbot, I'm controlling a bot made with materials.

You might have to connect the recieving DCS's active output to the camera as well.
Ok.

Ok, it worked, but how do I make the camera go back to sackboy when he exits the DCS? (he can exit and re-enter at anytime)2011-02-16 22:48:00

A Toggle switch hooked up to the controllinator that your sackboy sits in to the "Active" port and then to the movie camera on your bot (Black button in middle of controller on the circuit board) 2011-02-16 22:50:00

Ok, thanks... Even though I found a workaround: set the camera to skippable and set the "O" button to eject. 2011-02-17 15:27:00

Here's a option for you. On the reciever controlinator that is on your sackbot or creature's MC. Put 2 movie cams and one not gate and connect them like this.

Set the top cam to:
track player : no
local space : no
Camera Shake : 0%
transition time : 1.0
hold time : infinite
disable controllers : no
flatness : 60
depth of field : 0%
skippable : no
require all players : no

and set the bottom one to:
track player : yes
transition time : 1.0
hold time : infinite
disable controllers : no
skippable : no
require all players : yes

This should do it for you.
