When time stood still

Archive: 8 posts

You know how people say your best ideas come when your in the bathroom? well i think its true, my new project arrived to me while in the shower of all places, anyways here it is.
"premise" someone has attacked the keeper of time and little big planet is going haywire! Half of little big planet is frozen in time and its spreading quick. will you find the keeper of time and save the planet and all the little sackboys and sackgirls from their demise? or will you finish him of and have it all to yourself?

So the level itself is a kind of giant clock tower filled with obstacles and puzzles. the level is based mostly on puzzles and the only way to get out of each room is to complete some kind of puzzle. as you progress the puzzles will get harder. eventually you will find the keeper of time, and you will have a decision to make, rescue him (this will result in a boss battle and putting the rest of the clock back together) or kill him ( this will result in escaping the clock tower as it explodes around you.) there will also be alot of hidden rooms through the tower, some of the puzzle to open rooms early on will open secret rooms later, so make so to keep your eyes open.
so far i have finished the first 3 rooms and its pretty cool so far. if you have any ideas or feedback post them here, i need some good ideas for puzzles

Hey everyone, just moved into my new apartment last week and i dont have internet yet. but here is an update on my progress if anyone is interested.
Name change: the name has been changed to "the temple of time" I thought this was more fitting (alot of what I wanted to do has changed, in a better way I think)

The lighting has been changed dramatically from what I posted in pictures way back when. I spent ALLOT of time working on the lighting to make it feel like you are in a temple.
the A,B,C ground material has been changed to Aztec Stone, gives a better overall temple feel.
Its taken me alot longer to create this level than i thought it would, allot has to do with the lack of Excitement i once had (the search engine has disheartened me) Although i have been working slow, it has allowed me to focus on detail and puzzle mechanics allot more than I otherwise would.

Although I think I have created some interesting characters, a very flawed "superhero", a evil villain bent on LBP domination and a couple others i am not sure will show up in this level or not, but will later in the series. (I will be making a series of levels using these characters)
The sad part is I am horrid at making good looking creatures and characters. (if anyone wants to help with this i would be great)

Unfortunately I am rapidly running out of thermometer and I am expecting that i will not be able to make nearly the lengthy and exciting level I had envisioned.

I cant wait for you guys to play this level, I cant say it will be the best thing since sliced bread, but its original and fun.

have a puzzle where you have to drag the cogs into the right places (you could do this with a magnetic switch)2008-11-19 19:12:00

Bah! dont go stealing my ideas! oh and with the cogs i have something like that, you have to insert 2 "keys" and a cog falls from the ceiling into place and opens the stairs to the next room, its pretty cool, I think I will have to do more cog stuff though2008-11-19 21:49:00

Cool idea. You could also pack the thermometer so the game actually lags and you can claim it as a "time lapse".2008-11-19 22:14:00

that could be interesing, I might try it out and see if it works, i have a feeling it might just annoy people though.

Cool clockwork idea, Endoftime56. I'm guessing you'll have to probably go crazy with the cogs for a neat "clock effect"2008-11-20 01:53:00

yea i'm going pretty crazy with the cogs and finding interesting ways to include them into the puzzles, but its coming along nicely, here are some screens of 2 un-polished rooms.

This is the first room on the level, just get you inside the "clock"

there will be a big pendulum in this room, you will need to get it moving again to get into the next room.

I started editing in journal entries and I will try and post some updated pictures to show all of the changes I have made. If everything goes smoothly the level should be published by saturday ~ sunday
