The thermometer....
Archive: 5 posts
Ok, so here's something I've been wondering since I got started with the level editor. How EXACTLY does the thermometer work? There are times when I'll do something, and it'll jump up a fair amount..... and then there are times (alot of times) where I'll do ALOT of somethings and it wont move whatsoever. So, Im wondering.... what exactly makes it really move, and what are the things that increase it the most? I feel this info could be very useful to have during creation. Also, does the size of the "crater" chosen to hold the level in My Moon do anything such as determine the maximum size of the level or anything? I cant really tell.... I dont worry about the thermometer TOO much.... the first level I made was actually very large indeed, and I was able to stick in absolutely everything I wanted to without trouble.... and really, a large chunk of the meter comes from the boss at the end. Still, I'd like to know what really makes that thing tick so I can avoid potential costly mistakes..... | 2008-11-19 09:44:00 Author: Bridget Posts: 334 |
I can't give much info in terms of specifics, but I can say right off the bat that the crater size changes nothing about the thermometer. Also, emitters will take an amount of thermometer directly relative to the Lifetime and Max Emitted settings. Whether the emitter is on or off. However, objects emitted by an emitter do not affect the thermometer as long as you don't save your level with them emitted. You can find a section related to the Thermometer in the first post of this thread: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=4562 | 2008-11-19 11:38:00 Author: Linque Posts: 607 |
AI creatures use one notch per creature. I had to halve the amount of Teeny Tiny Electric Death Crabs I used on my second level as it used the last of the thermometer. | 2008-11-19 13:00:00 Author: Piratepete Posts: 110 |
If you copy objects and use those copied objects to create new objects, you'll save a lot of thermometer space. Don't forget that you can actually copy an unglued object and then use it to "paint" like you would with a shape you chose from the pop-it menu. The only stipulations are that it has to be an unglued object, and it can't have any stickers on it. The workaround, obviously, is to just temporarily detach the object and/or remove stickers (or just wait on stickers and gluing until you get a good portion of that part of your level done). | 2008-11-20 00:56:00 Author: Justin Hopewell Posts: 135 |
