Detecting when objects stop. (e.g. spacepool)

Archive: 3 posts

I've been wonderng how to detect when objects stop similar to the balls in the spacepool story level. The white ball can't be shot until everything has stopped, then, if no ball goes into the pockets it switches to the next player. How is this done?

The full power ball effect, is that just electricity or plasma?

Thanks.

I'm no expert but I'll put some ideas down until someone more experienced can answer. I don't know which way is more efficient.

saarraz1 has a neat speed sensor that just might do the trick. More details here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=48824-LOGIC-TOOLS-Speed-Sensor-Signal-Change-Sensor&highlight=speed+detection) on the forums.

Unfortunately I didn't find this until after I finished mine. What I came up with was an invisible holo that follows each object I want to detect movement. As the holo gets closer to the object it's detecting, a slower follower activates. For example, when it gets within 2 or 3 units, a follower with a slow top speed (0.1 - 0.3) activates. When the sensor catches the object and the smallest radius tag sensor (0.1 I think) detects the object I can assume it has stopped. For safe measure, I attached the shortest range sensor to a timer of around 0.5 seconds to make sure the object has stopped and to fix the situation where sometimes the object passes through the follower and isn't actually done moving, yet.

I'm not great at explaining logic in text so if no one posts a better explanation or solution later maybe I can post a screenshot. Hope I've at least given you an idea. For now I gotta head to class.

Ah, thanks. saarraz1's speed sensor did the job. By the way good job on the mini golf level, I've been playing it daily for the past 4-5 days with a group of friends, the most replayable lbp community level I've found so far. 2011-02-17 15:53:00
