Load glitch!!

Archive: 7 posts

I was playing online earlier after updating the game, and STILL had trouble with the loading glitch! It was worst than ever before!
Anyone else still having trouble? I thought the update would fix that :/

I don't think the update had anything to do with the loading screens issue. Yes, I'm still experiencing long load screens online too.2011-02-15 19:40:00

I noticed too that it got worse after the update.

And it's not a glitch. It's more a bug/technical issue, which I hope MM will work something out soon as it's very annoying and problematic at times, even causing some to no longer play LBP2 until it's fixed.

It may well be an insoluble problem.

When you play online, everything that happens in the simulation (although I'm not sure to what extent it's distributed, or whether just the host is running the simulation) has to be broadcast to all the other players in real time. However, whether this is possible or not depends on the quality of the network connections between all the players involved.

I believe the loading screen is the game's attempt to shut down the simulation for a while, to let the current simulation state synchronize between all the players, but when there's a lot going on, it's possible with limited bandwidth, high packet latency, or packet loss, the game will never catch up.

So you could argue that the problem rests with the quality of your network connection to the other players, which is a hardware problem, and to say it's a bug is like saying "I can't see any colors in the game cos I have a black-and-white TV" is a bug. Would you really expect MM to be able to fix that in software?

However, there's probably something they can do to 'fix' it, but it may well compromize some other aspect of the game - perhaps they'd have to reduce the thermo limit, or have the objects update less frequently (which may lead to more game diverge issues).

CAlm down, this has nothing to do with patches, but server and online connection issues.
I for one rarely experience this anymore thanks to all the server maintenance/ tewaking or w/e, unless the other person has really bad internet connection.

So stop making it sound as if nothing's been done, because it has.

Why do people keep thinking that all the bad stuff is made just to annoy people or something, rather than realizing its more technical issues that can't be insta-fixed?

Unless you know exactly how to fix something, I don't think you should be talking as if its an easy thing to fix, m8
