Your Dream Game Idea

Archive: 18 posts

We all have ideas for games. Some of the ideas are new and fresh, over build on an old concept. Some of us grow on these ideas, and strive to make them actually exist
So, what is YOUR dream game? What game do you want to see made? Have you thought of every little detail, or just the concept? No matter the state your idea is in, share it with us here!

:o

I'll post mine after I publish a demo level in LBP, since it's using the same concept I don't want to give it away before I have it published.

Alright guys, srs idea first, then pointless one, k? good.

So my first idea, which is just like sticking Test Drive Unlimited, NFS Hot Pursuit, WipEout HD, and Full Auto 2 into one convient package. If you don't already see where i'm going with this it would be a free roam hovercraft game with cops, online, and mounted weapons! Inculdes player leveling, 150 unlockable vehicles, giant open cities, clubs, casinos, and racing through water, land and air, If this game came out it would be the greatest thing ever, that is if you could actually play the game online for the first week of release, something TDU2 didn't manage to do, which made me very

Now for pointless idea:

Keyboard Challenge! A game for the Wii which comes with it's own Wii keyboard. The objective being to get the words spelled correctly and in the fastest times to progress through the game, competing in texting championships, typing duels, and webpage challenges! Sounds like something that should be for the Wii right?

Alright, I want to be a work in the game industry so I have a big quantity of ideas in my mind, though some I have thrown away for others and I got many alterations for the different ideas, but I think I will now just mention a few of my ideas Do note they have no order though, the numbers are just representative of the idea I wrote first, second, etc. Not a 1st my most preferable and the last for my least desirable. ANYWAY:

1) Title: Hypernatural
Taking use of the playstation move, you need one of the pointy glowing-orb-at-the-end controllers and a navigator (the other move thing which has one of those wobbly movers) I want to make some kind of FPS puzzle/horror/action game where you walk around and try to solve some strange supernatural mystery. You can move around and use the move controller as a hand to, for an example, open doors, swing swords and other weapons (or use your bare fists), hold a flashlight or other items.
The story should be something like that you are investigating a certain corp which seems pretty shady and not too trustful. In the middle of talking to the very owner of this corp in his office, a fancy room with high comfort and a big screen TV, floor 66, room 6. In the middle of the conversation it flashes up and shows a derived scientist with a horrified expression and rants about some accident and a project going wrong, when the screen begins to flicker and he disappears, accompanied by evil sounds and screams of course. Out of the TV a semitransparent monster steps out, going for the boss, you try running for the door, but the beast slams you the other way, right out of the window and suddenly you wake up and the game unfolds...
Eventually The right arm/left arm was broken so you only can use one arm which explains why you have only one arm available

2) Title: Mecha Mind
You are an AI robot with consciousness created by humans on a civilization on another planet which is very similar to the earth, except the only life that has been flourishing is plant life, though even they have some sort of a mind too, as will be shown later in the story. The humans who created you works for a giant corp extracting different materials from the ground, exports it to other colonies and uses it itself to build newer buildings and etc.
Unfortunately there are both people and AI's that have become opposed to the corp and therefore are fighting to take control, so war is going on. On the planet there are actually
variety of different plants from earlier excursions, abandoned and so the rebels are hiding in them, but no one knows where, but they use the factories inside to create fighter robots and etc.
Your mind is similar to that of a human, you can think for yourself, anticipate different scenarios and plan. Even solve logical problems. You can be equipped as you want at stations to fit your fighting style, there is the fast with little armor and light weapons, the heavy with high defense and lots of customizations in between. And they will be so balanced that it will depend entirely on the player's skill to take down the other. You may have skills like stealth, you won't show on any radarscreen or etc., 4 arms which let you wield 2 heavy weapons at a single time, 4 legs for faster movement, "Monkey" which lets you walk on walls and other surfaces as you wish or super-AI which lets you do different tasks much faster.
The story will contain places like woods, caves, factories and even zero-gravity areas!
A multiplayer is included, with varied maps to play on, both zero gravity ones, woods, factories and each and one with unique types of interactive actions to your (dis)advantage.

I think that will be it for now, but I shall return for posting more

Me & my Bro have been discussing in depth our "dream game" idea for about 10 years now - we have developed it to such an extent that there isn't really an aspect of the game that we haven't mulled over.
Both of us were hoping that these ideas would be so obvious and so cool, that we wouldn't need to bother having to make it ourselves, as some other games company would hopefully steal our thunder.
Sadly, the game industry seems to be moving away from our concept of a "dream game".

The core idea is a Fantasy set turn-based martial arts combat game... not the turn based idea of the likes of FFVII (my turn: attack, enemy turn: attack, my turn: attack, enemy turn: attack!), but based on the pen & paper combat systems of the likes of Warhammer Fantasy Battle (though a bit more in depth);
Each turn represent 1 second in "real time" - and you can select any body part - be it your head (with sub-locations of chin/forehead/top of head/side/back/front etc) - arm (with sub-locations of shoulder/upper-arm/elbow/fore-arm/wrist/hand[hand also has a sub-set of clenched or open fists - for slaps or punches]) and similar selections for every part of your body - you then select a hit location on your enemy (with just as many and varied a hit location) and based on your stats, location in relation to your enemy, stance and other modifiers - does damage accordingly.
This would also include options for weapons (hitting with the flat of the blade, or slicing with the edge etc);

All of this is set against the backdrop of a randomly/procedurally generated world - with random/procedurally generated quests... with every character selection option, from pauper to king. And the content is delivered to you based on your decisions/actions.
If you choose to be an accountant instead of a warrior - the game would generate content based on that - so the randomly generated world has all of these systems acting upon it - For instance, the king is a more managerial role, deciding what/where and how many forces to dispatch to an area/ Deciding how much of the annual budget to allocate to Military/Commerce/Farming etc - as an accountant you might be in charge of just one of these aspects - such as farming, and with your influence could either create abundance or poverty in you region of influence.

Another idea was to have all items/armour/weapons to be region specific - so if your game randomly generated your starting region to be a mountain, maybe mixed with some forest, then all of the creatures would be relevant to that landscape - as would the loot - and with that loot you would be forging weapons and armour (or taking it to the local blacksmith for them to forge for you - but you could always play the game as a blacksmith) unique and specific to your circumstances.

Most of these concepts all ready exist in some form or another across many different titles - and the main area of development time would be spent creating a random content generator that could generate "narrative" content based on your action.

In short - it would be the most ambitious game ever made - hence it's codename: Ambition (as it's also our ambition to one day see it made)

I'm working towards mine at the moment, currently in flash, which is best described as S.T.A.L.K.E.R in space mixed with some stuff from Deus Ex (Helios) and at the moment with a warhammer 40k style combat.

Its been 1 year and hopefully it'll be a decent stepping stone to future developments when I have a proper programming language learnt.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

The LBP2 vers.

LittleBigRPG (Role Playing Game) although a Littlebigplanet style RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade) would be cool. It would feature everything seen in LBP2 but it would be way more complex the story mode would be sandbox and in create mode you would be able to animate materials to make facial expressions etc. and you would be able to make your own sackboy animations as well. Power-up creator so you could make your own swords, bows, axes, daggers the list goes on... Sackboy would be changed slightly to allow him to go top down and his arms would be protruding rather than by his sides. Basically an LBP themed RPG creator.2011-02-15 17:30:00

First would be the "Hit and Run" series, would be like GTA, but with more realism and larger maps. (maybe even real sized). Coming up for PS5 if I suceed in any game-making lessons!
Second would be "Cityscape", a city building game with extremely realistic graphics, large regions, terrain modifying tools and more. It takes basical gameplay aspects from Sim City 4 and some features from Cities XL 2011. Be sure to get the "Around the World" expansion and Cityscape 2, which has backwards compatibility with every building and feature from CS1!
Finally, "World at War" is the most realistic shooter ever. It takes place in the 21th century. This game has a similar gameplay to BF2. Everything is destructable (with realistic destroying effects), you could drive from jeeps to large bombers and it would support up to 128 players! (on every console that supports it) :kz:

Before I post my other game idea, i'll drop this idea my friends and I had:

Project Blank.

Taking from such things as LBP, the Red Faction series, Spore, the Euphoria engine, the DMM engine, MMO's, Second Life, and the idea of terraforming, it would be a game focused on extreme realism with the ability to make everything and anything in-game.
The play area would linked between massive blank plots roughly the size of ES4:Oblivion, with seemless transition between the plots so it looks like one huge area. The entire area spanning as far as the average MMO.
That would be one server/'level'.
In that server everyone would be able to build anywhere. There would be realistic destruction (like an advanced version of the Red Faction/DMM engines), you could build below/above ground to a large extent (enough to build underground skyscrapers with land/water/sky, not even counting the above ground.
You would be building in 3d of course, and be able to turn/flip/rotate in 3d.
Every server would accomodate 1000 players.
There would be personal servers that only you could access (like LBPs moon), build stuff, save, going into public server bring it out and make that area part of the server.
Building entire worlds would be highly encouraged.
You would be able to create your own character animations, weapons, vehicles, etc.
There would also be servers where you could tweak the settings to allow different styles or materials be used.
Imported images, screenshots, etc.
Water.
Customizable A.I character, made to look like people, animals, robots, whatever. Make your own A.I or use premade.
Populate your entire world with these A.I beings.
There would be dedicated servers that when you put something in it, it stays there as long as the server is up.

Imagine vast landscapes, huge buildings, deep underground tunnels, any kind of vehicle imaginable, custom weapons, and custom characters/character animations, all made by the players in 3d with destruction and beautiful graphics.

Say you build a city, the epicenter of that city consists of a large tower which has a couple of stories underground. There is a tunnel leading from the surface to a doorway under your tower/skyscraper. Someone sneaks through the tunnel, plants an explosive on the bottom floor, and runs. The bottom floor blows out, and if your building isn't built to handle it, it crumbles to the ground. With real destruction physics.

That's just part of the idea but its the basic concept.

A massive Star wars game, with many planets. And many players.
Red faction-like destruction, and all classes (jedi, bounty hunter and so on).
Every vehicle in the SW lore.
Flying a Star destroyer, then crash it into buildings.
All buildings enter-able.
Ability to fly from the ground and to outer space without any loadings and stuff.

Yeah... Epic idea is epic

You use the gravity of floating islands to sneak up on enemies in this FPS game. For example, a player may underneath you, upside-down. The gravity pulls you towards the flat surface, feet down. Steal from enemies and defeat the giant Terror Beast. Also contains multilayer, co-op and competitive.2011-07-31 21:53:00
