Diversity

Hello, all!

I was thinking about LBP the other day, and thinking of the levels that I am currently working on.. I have 2 works in progress, both of which have a very heavy story element. I was thinking, "I want to do something that just rocks. I want it to be EPIC. However, I want it to be simple. Of course, I decided on a nice, long, well done platformer with very little text (if any at all!) A rather Jonzian approach, if you will.

Anyway, I'm calling it 'Diversity'. I'm not sure I like the name; I very well may change it later on. I'm calling it that because I'm going to use a concept I've not seen as much as I'd like. I'm going to have separate chambers, each with a theme of materials or colors, showing the diversity of what you can make in LBP. If you have played "Nature, Wood, Sack", you will be familiar with the kind of thing I'm talking about. I want to have all these different biomes and environments flow together, and I think the end product will be simply gorgeous. I hope, anyway.

So, I'll be posting updates on the level here, for anyone who cares!

Also, if you'd like to make a suggestion (chamber theme, or even a new title), I'd LOVE to hear it!

Thanks!

Sounds interesting I'm actually working on a level just like that right now. I haven't decided on a name really but I'm doing the whole Jonzian theme and using two/three main materials in each section. Can't wait to see what you do!2011-02-15 02:42:00

remember to not have too many materials or it'll lag

I thought it was too FEW materials that made it lag? D:

Anyway, sounds good Jkarow!

Well there are different theories about it all and I haven't really tested it enough but I think it makes more sense that having more materials makes it lag. It might just be having multiple materials in a small condensed area though.

I've heard too many materials. It makes sense.. So far, I've done (the rough layout of) the first three sections, each with.. 4 or so materials, max. My thermo is only to second notch, so no lag.. yet. O.o

Anyway, I'm excited to see what you do with the concept, Woodbury!

I'm really excited about this level! I'm trying to use lots of logic, and corner edit, and sound effects, and camera angles.. I hope you all enjoy when I finish!

EDIT: So indescribably glad people are looking forward to this level!

Alright, time for an update! I have been working on the third section, and the interval between sections 2 and 3.. I have also made a rather spiffy elevator to bring you through the transition!

So.. Any tips on a name?

Well, those of you who are following this thread and are looking forward to the release of this (amazing, beautiful, and groundbreaking) level (Yeah, right. <.<), I provide.....

The most disappointing update EVER. My PSP is malfunctioning. Not my PSP, actually, but LBP. Might be my save file. Which means I've lost everything. The first 5 chambers of Diversity, the first half of Finding Pablo, and my trophy room. All GONE. So, that's the status report. Sorry to leave you all hanging with the thought of my first good level. I guess this one will end up being the one that got away, if you will.
