Why is this happening to me!!!

Archive: 8 posts

Ok. It all started a few days ago. I'm making a top-down shooting level and I have a pretty big microchip and whenever I tweak the microchip it insanely lags. It's hard to do anything with it. Then a couple days ago I was working on my level the sound just cuts out. There's a popping sound then no sound at all until I restart my PS3. Now I turned on my PS3 today and I was making a tag sensor and my poppit opens up for it but it doesn't show up and the poppit looks like it is all the way across the map. This has nothing to do with my other chip though. Then I tried to plug a wire into the input of an AND gate and IDK why but it plugs into the brain of a random sackbot. Then the sound cuts out. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING!!!!!!2011-02-14 20:38:00

Hmmmm is the microchip in the same level where you were working on the sensor? Also do you have any very large objects in the level? It size of the logic is probably bogging your system down, also when I have very large (too large to edit anymore) objects in my level my popit starts opening at the strangest places or I'll open it and my sackboy will zoom off in one direction. I think its just pushing the envelope. I dunno if PS3 has it but xbox you can clear the cache and that usually helps day to day operation, if you can do that I would try that.2011-02-14 20:56:00

have you tried breaking your MC up into smaller logic blocks placed on their own MC inside of it? That way you only have open what you need at any given time. It should reduce the lag tremendously.2011-02-14 22:52:00

I actually already tried that and it doesn't help too much but I know something that might help. I'll post again if it doesn't work.2011-02-14 22:56:00

I've had this. With my chip, it was the wires - consider every time you place a logic piece or try and attach wires, its constantly trying to rearrange the wires to make them look better. I solved this - sort of - by putting the complicated parts onto their own microchips.2011-02-14 23:15:00

Well I made it so the microchip wasn't lagging anymore (I did what you guys recommended). Then I deleted my old AND gates on the stuff not related to the microchip at all. So it wasn't lagging and it was going great then I tried to plug in an input and my PS3 made the popping sound then just froze. Looks like I'm gonna have to make a different level just because my level is too complex. I mean the logic was perfect...I had a whole story mapped out...LBP just decided to screw me over.2011-02-15 00:11:00

That sounds pretty serious...like a hardware problem.

It doesn't happen ANYWHERE else. Just when I work on this one level. I play CoD, Elder Scrolls, NFS... never happens when I play any of those games or if I work on other levels. Just this.
