Hey. Just wondering if anybody knows off hand if you can go back to LBP 1 after you've imported your profile, collect something new, and then import it again without destroying your LBP 2 file? I have an idea to use Yellow Head in a level, but I never did get around to acing that last level to get the costume. Can I get that costume now and import it, or am I SOL?

should work. Just use the import items and objects option.

Yes you can do this. If you go back to LBP1, gather new community objects, make or modify LBP1 levels or anything else of this nature then when you start up LBP2 it will tell you that it has noticed that your LBP1 profile has been recently modified. It will ask if you would like it to scan the profile and import the changes. If you say 'yes' then it will bring forward whatever the delta is into your LBP2 profile.

You can also backup LBP1 levels and import them into LBP2. I was working on fixing some compatibility issues with my levels, trying to get them to work properly in LBP1 & 2 and of course if you modify them in LBP2 and re-publish it you won't be able to play that level in LBP1 anymore. Every time you play LBP1, LBP2 will ask you if you want to update your collected items but you have to backup and import changes to LBP1 levels on your moon manually.
