Darkness In The Life

Welcome to new newest Little Big Planet 2 Creation.

Darkness in the Light is a traditional platformer but with a major LBP2 twist!! This level (as with Protoneon my first level) is completely original and Artistic, it also makes use of the creatinator throughout but in a way that is really unique and completely original way!!

Played your level and please take my comment as constructive criticism:

The good things about the level:
- Original use of the creatinator; shooting lamps to make light or to destroy burning blocks to clear the way = fun. However in that section where you got the burning blocks moving towards you, and you have to stop and destroy them with the creatinator lamp, I felt that the lamp should come out maybe with a higher velocity. You can?t pass that section, when you?re not moving your sackperson slowly to the left, but sometimes you?re blocking the creatinator spawn with the recently spawned lamp...
You can easily pass that section without trouble by spawning one lamp on the bottom to destroy the first wall, and then jump and spawn another lamp to destroy the next wall coming in... it took me a while to figure that out though, as it took me a while to figure out what to do in this area at all... It doesn?t work intuitively.

- Another good thing to mention is the use of the new game mechanics, with a lot of layer changing objects.

What I didn?t like about the level was, that to me it appeared to be very repetitive gameplay-wise. You basically have to do the same things over and over again. For instance, you have to jump over 4 or 5 fire pits to get to the next check point...
Make light - jump - wait, make light - jump - wait, make light - jump - wait, make light - jump - wait, make light - jump - Checkpoint .. or worse - make light -jump - die ... and do it again.
There is also this section were you have to pull switches to make the stairs move up. You pull the switch and go upstairs, pull switch and go upstairs, pull switch and go upstairs .. and so on.

Maybe you also should overdo the section with the greenish shining layer changing blocks. This was were I finally died simply because I couldn?t tell whether or not the blocks were in or out. I think you should make a more clear and more easy to see layer changing pattern to start with and maybe include more tricky sections later.

The overall appearance of your level was good, however it did not look original and new like something I have never played before. Maybe some more stickers and decos or handmade prop objects might help.

After all, it's a solid platformer level with some good ideas and potential.
