Please visit this link and sign the petition if you feel that there was no need to ban SATs exams in the UK. I will thank anyone in advance who does. Thanks.

SATs are supposed to be optional, and are only required of those planning on studying in the States (and a select few other countries), so having them as an option is for your own benefit.

But I'm not in the UK, so it makes no difference whatsoever to me. xD

Your first post on the LBPC forums is in the General area...

Quite suspicious I must say.

Exactly what I thought ^

^^ SATS over here is an exam you sit in Year 6, and Year 9, and I also think Year 3.

Waste of time tbh. Why make young kids stress?

Optional most of the time over here as well. Some schools like to see an SAT score, but they're primarily on the west coast. The ACT is the exam I had to take for entrance into Mizzou.

I mean, it's not optional over here :/

They make you sit it, and the teachers in Year 6 make you think it's the most important test of your life, when really, it means nothing.

Why is it mandatory over there when it has no purpose whatsoever? Very curious indeed.

But don't most of the schools there follow the British curriculum?
You guys aren't supposed to be doing SATs anyway. >_>

Lol, we've done SATS since I've been in school. So that's at least 9 years, although they were banned fairly recently..

Good move imo.

Don't think so.

Test and exams are different in the UK compared to the US..

Ours were called SATs, but they were just tests the schools did, although they were marked externally..

"Externally" meaning where?

Outside of the school faculty, but in the country?
Or outside the country?

Means absolutely bugger all to me, I did the very first years of GCSE's, and they were the only exams I did through my whole school life. Good job too given the lack of effort I put in until my final year.

Good luck to you poor suckers who have to deal with them. Nowadays I just have pain in the backsidee customers and obstructive colleagues to deal with.

I was actually gonna do my year 9 SATs in year 8 but now the SATs were cancelled. This event was meant to be joyus but now, I'm skipping another year and starting my GCSEs.
