Does it hurt just to heart someone?
Archive: 29 posts
I mean some people work hard on their levels but they only get smileys and a "Nice job" review, but never a heart. It doesn't hurt just to give the person a heart for at-least contributing to LBP. Because I heart other even though it wasn't all-that. So I kinda deserve the same. :L | 2011-02-14 01:46:00 Author: donta133 Posts: 182 |
Harting's really not a part of rating anymore, is it? So shouldn't matter that much, imo at least. | 2011-02-14 01:52:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |

So I don't want my 'My Hearted' section filled up with levels I'm not going to want to play again. | 2011-02-14 01:53:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
Yea, people seem to now use hearts as a rating system, but I've always used hearts as a favorites system. I'm not going to heart every level I come across, only those which I find useful or those levels that I loved and/or would want to replay often or even to show to my school friends. However, before LBP.me, I would occasionally use hearts a queue system of sorts.... But yea, I don't use my Bookmarks pages on the iPad for random sites, I use it to Bookmark websites I visit often. I only heart a level if its good-great, and/or has replayability. My hearts have to be earned. | 2011-02-14 02:00:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |

You should straighten you thing right away and simply have fun with the game. And create stuff because you like creating it more than receiving praise/fame. That's the only healthy way to process my friend. | 2011-02-14 03:02:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Well I'm just implying... People have different hearting techs, and I usually hear people who put effort in making their levels. If it looks like some one didn't try the I dont heart them. The levels doesn't always have to be "WOW". Well, I am returning the question to you. Why would you need hearts so much? Does it hurt not to receive more? I'm not trying to receive fame/praise. I just want to know that people like my levels. that's what the smiley/Yay is for. I treat hearts as bookmarks. | 2011-02-14 03:21:00 Author: EinRobot Posts: 739 |
Same here - Hearts = Bookmarks. As for creators, they usually have to make one or two great levels to earn a heart from me - or, alternatively, make one MIND BLOWING level (at least) | 2011-02-14 03:26:00 Author: standby250 Posts: 1113 |

I agree with the majority here. If a level is good enough that I want to play it again, I'll heart it. If a level is good but I have no plan or desire to play it again, I won't heart it. It's not a case of "Is the level good or not?", it's more a case of "Is this a level I want to play again?". For showing my appreciation to good levels, I use the rating system. | 2011-02-14 03:40:00 Author: Wayward Posts: 120 |
I also use the hearts as a "favorite" system. If your level is good enough I will heart it. I dunno why you are worried anyways, if people like your stuff, you will know. | 2011-02-14 03:54:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
I understand what your saying. But again just saying < please don't take this post as a beg or pity becuz that's nit what I'm trying to get across. I work hard for my hearts. And I'm doing good so far. | 2011-02-14 04:07:00 Author: donta133 Posts: 182 |

And I'm doing good so far.I think we are just saying that not getting a heart does not mean your level is not liked/good. We are just pointing out that many ppl reserve hearts for bookmarks and use yay or boo to rate. | 2011-02-14 04:14:00 Author: EinRobot Posts: 739 |

I heart levels which I want to play again or I want my friends to try... That's basically what it's meant for, right? | 2011-02-14 06:02:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
I usually just heart a level if it's good by default. I use the Queue system for bookmarking levels though. | 2011-02-14 08:04:00 Author: Retro Posts: 104 |
So....you wanna give ol' Ungreth here a big sloppy wet kiss? No? Well don't expect me to give my heart until you've earned it! Seriously though, hearts are reserved for levels that I love. Your level may have some effort put into it, and the smiley "yay" face is how I would acknowledge that, but unless your level makes me go weak at the knees then it ain't getting my heart. Also, my hearted list is essentially a collection of my all time faves which I want to play again at some point in the future, and having an "just ok" level there would be like having a Dean Koontz novel in the middle of my Steven King collection. No. | 2011-02-14 08:27:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Hearts are what I give to a level I want to play again that impressed me. If I won't play it again, or it didn't really impress me, I won't heart it. | 2011-02-14 09:09:00 Author: Moonface Posts: 310 |
I'm the same as everyone else. I know people are beginning to treat hearts as a rating system, but I only heart levels that I know I will want to play again or that I've gotten some inspiration from. As for creators, I only heart creators that I want to keep an eye on. If they're hearted, it reminds me to check back and see if they've created anymore awesome levels. | 2011-02-14 14:49:00 Author: Unknown User |
So....you wanna give ol' Ungreth here a big sloppy wet kiss? Be careful what you wish for. I understand everyone wants to feel acknowledgement for their hard work, but just because someone isn't in love with you doesn't mean they hate you. It's like going around high school asking every girl to be your girlfriend and thinking if not all of them accept they must be cold hearted people or dislike you. Not necessarily, they might enjoy your company but just not feel that way about you. If you're getting yays then that definitely means people enjoyed the level. | 2011-02-14 15:05:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I only heart what I know I'll play over and over again. | 2011-02-15 04:08:00 Author: Shiro Posts: 108 |
I only heart levels that leaving me smiling. But tbh, I care little too much about ratings. I wish people would explain why they sad-face or rate down my levels and everyone's levels for that matter. Usually if people rate it down, it's either jealousy or it doesn't interest them at the least. I never sad-face anyone's level. I know how much time and effort goes into a level, even if it's crappy. If it looks like some effort was put into it, I'll give it a smiley, but I only write reviews for REALLY GOOD levels and friend's level. But yeah I agree with the fellow sack who said just enjoy creating. Don't worry about the hearts or the plays. Just have fun. I'll be honest, I get a little down when someone rates my level down or sends me a nasty comment. But I've learned to ignore it. All the time and energy I waste getting upset about some angry person on the internet could be put into making better levels lol. | 2011-02-15 04:45:00 Author: comishguy67 Posts: 849 |
My level's got a nice proportion of happy faces and good reviews, but only 11 hearts. I just don't think people do anymore, I think I've only hearted three or four so far. I only really heart if it's been helpful, it's a friend or it's a good level I'd like to play again but don't think I'll find it eaisly, which, thanks to Mm Picks getting more activity, doesn't happen as much. | 2011-02-15 17:20:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
I still want a player heart option. I use the queqe to check out levels, or add a play list, frowns and smiles for good/bad, and hearts for great players. That has kept me from hearting levels as much, but I do heart a level I play that had tons of work put into it...the only reason I avoid hearts for levels is because of all the H4H, sometimes hearting levels gets you H4Hed, and many of those who hearted in the past were H4Hers, so I just felt hearts were never worth anything, but the pokemon crowd (you know the trophy collectors...got to catch them all...my PSN Heart trophy will beat your PSN Warhawk wings trophy). | 2011-02-16 18:51:00 Author: celsus Posts: 822 |
Hearts to me are like Personal Mm Picks... For those special, original, levels that make me go Oh Wow! | 2011-02-16 22:15:00 Author: Nurolight Posts: 918 |
Wow this post is totally misunderstood. But I'm done discussing this. | 2011-02-17 00:03:00 Author: donta133 Posts: 182 |
So basically, if you get a "Yay" - people liked it - like a good book - it was a fun read. But if you get a heart - then they want your book on their shelf. If you get a "Creator" heart - they showed up at your book signing and exclaimed, "I'm such a big fan!". Ok, I'm done with my book analogy now. | 2011-02-17 01:43:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |
