Panzer Arcade

Archive: 5 posts

Panzer Arcade is a cartooney-style Top-Down view Tank Action Shooter.
(... not an attempt of a retro arcade)

Fight enemy gun turrets and tanks on the way to the enemy base.
Enemys will randomly drop power-ups for bonuses or weapon upgrades for you to collect.

An immense amount of work and sleepless nights went into aswell the player-controlled tank as the level design, and I hope some of you will have as much fun with this level as I had creating and playing it.

Surely needs some little polishing here and there, but this is future stuff just like all the possible additions and sequels I have in mind.

Player count is limited to 2 Players.

Thanks in advance for playing and have fun.

It was fun, and looked like beautiful art design. The controls (especially the turret movement) was a bit difficult though. I couldn't get it to shoot very well.
Also, when i got to the red gate, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to shoot at to get it to open.
Finally, showing me how much damage I've taken is a necessity, even if I can't do anything about it.

But, I'd play it again ~

This was really a great game. Your visual style is impeccable, and the tank controlled nicely,

Couple things,

Maybe have a nice hit effect when you hit something. It really adds a lot when you get some visual feedback, especially if you have to hit something many times to destroy it.
Would be cool to have a level link where I fight some awesome boss..... I was fighting to get through the last gate... When realized it ended there..
Would be nice to see how much damage has been done to my tank.

Thanks a lot for the feedbacks! Really, much appreciated!
I actually have worked on a major update for this level during the past few days. So far I have completely redone the player-controlled tank logic and there will be some major rearrangements to the level itself.
The new tank version will allow to switch from the current turret rotate to a joystick rotator and back ... whatever you feel more comfortable with (though the joystick rotate mode handling is a bit dodgy). I also had some ideas for new powerups which I havent included yet.
The level rearrangements will probably include more but easier to kill enemys. Not sure, how difficult the level plays right now for someone who didnt create it!
I will also redo the ending. Ambushes while shooting gate openers will be more of a standard situation in the new level version, not a showdown situation... and yes indeed there are plans for a level connection to a boss fight... the ending is kinda lame in its current state.

Damage display for the player controlled tank was not quite on my priority list, but yeah surely would make sense.

****it, looks like you've beaten me to making a **** good top down tank shooter

Turret control takes a bit of getting used to with the analog stick, it's quite sensitive and not the easiest to aim but it works well.
Visually the game is fantastic, the tank looks like a tank, which is more than I could do in my version. The level itself is well designed and looks brilliant as well.
The effects on the tank/enemies were good, I assumed that when my tank was on fire I was very close to dying! Thankfully I found a repair kit near the end and survived.

Not really sure what to suggest to make it better apart from maybe making the turret less sensitive. On my tank simulator i've got turret movement on the L1/R1 buttons with shooting as X (mind you the level isn't getting good reviews due to it being hard to control the tank, Here if you're interested (http://lbp.me/v/xtxndw) )

I look forward to seeing more!
