Reverse Dissolve??

Archive: 8 posts

So I was thinking... can you place a trigger somewhere or a button or switch so that an object materialises from thin air?
I just thought this up for any one remembering from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade the invisible bridge scene. Watch it YouTube - Review of Indiana Jones - Step of Faith.

So you will come to this stage and there will be a huge gap that you sackboy/girl cannot jump across. So there is nothing left to do but try and jump across. So when you jump you pass a sensor trigger that materialises the bridge below you so you land on it before falling to your death.

Do you reckon I could pull this off? And if there isnt a reverse dissolve feature how else could i do this?

I dont quite know if they will have it... you could have a trigger that makes a peice of wood or w/e shoot across the gap. via a hidden piston.2008-08-10 05:15:00

you could acomplish this in many ways, but i will say, your best bet of doing this, is asking this after the games is released, then atleast we know what we have to work with... right now, most of us are in the dark about all the tools and materials you get...2008-08-10 05:30:00

Sounds like a great idea, and I personally hope there's a reverse dissolve option (But that'd be kinda complicated to connect it to the switches and everything) anyhow, another idea is :

Make sure you're really high up. Now in the gap you have to put lots of little towers that shoot up once you get close (remember that india level?). To make them invisible, I'd say just have them exactly the same colour as the background (So keep the background plain ).

OR

It's been said before that you can make switches invisible (So people dont see them in your levels etc), if there's like an invisibility tool (original huh?), you could just use that.

Lemme know if you want that india video. (I think it was called Elephant Expedition).

Great idea, if they did do a reverse dissolve they could have the piece Look like a ghost piece when you are editing (as in a ghost car when trying to beat a lap time) so you would know it was inviable but still be able to place it2008-08-10 16:18:00

it would be cool to have the bridge the same colour as the background because that is the same in the movie where the bridge is painted to look the same as the rock face on the other side.

i think they will hav an invisbility tool though

Awesome! There are so many options that materializing opens up:

For example, I will make a Materializing (Self-Building) level in which as your sackboy moves, blocks appear in the level according to where you choose to go. It will be similar to YouTube - Super Mario Galaxy Walkthrough - Part 10 Space Junk Galaxy! This can easily be done with motion sensors placed throughout. I was going to have the blocks drop from the air, but that is no longer needed!
