I'm looking for something flat and smooth that I can use as a background for part of my level. It seems that most things have a texture of one form or another on them. The closest I have been able to find thus far is the blue wood. Rubber tends to be pretty smooth too, but it rounds the corners off. Any other suggestions?

Uh, the brass in the Metals section is pretty smooth (there's a few nice smooth metals), and Plywood looks smooth-ish. Try and mix the smooth materials with the Animated ones, it looks cool.

I know from LBP1 that Blue Wood was easily the smoothest material, and took stickers very well. Some of the metals don't sticker as well. and I haven't played with all of the new LBP2 materials so I can't say for sure, but I think it is still your best bet.

Basic cardboard is smooth and good for stickering, it is also very light on the thermo.
