3D tool and Font - Help

Archive: 11 posts

So I want to put some 3d stuff in my next level but I want to pt objects I have already made not build it with the tool does anyone know a good video, or can anyone let me know how to do it? Also do you think I should put the 3D in before or after I design the level? I heard it works like the furthest thin layer and every time I put a thin layer down then want to hang something like a piston or string I have to delete it and replace it if I want to hang anything anywhere but on it then thin layer in the back, it always snaps to that I can never get it to place on any other layer.

Also I dl some fonts but they are all connected, I can capture the fonts and it lets me separate them but if I delete any part of the font they all get deleted. I just want to have separate letters, can I do that?

1: I have no idea if you can place your objects in the background, I think there is a way to do it, but i'm not sure.

2: You can seperate them if you have LBP1, and the font is from LBP1. What you do is get the font, place it in a level, then back up said level, import it into LBP2 then save it, worked for me when I needed comph's 3D layer tool, don't see why it wouldn't work with fonts.

For the font, try clicking R3 (the left stick) to copy an individual letter and place it. If it copys the whole alphabet instead of just the letter, then you're going to need to do the lbp1 workaround as Merc said.

For the 3d, yes anything in the background is considered by the game engine to occupy the back thin layer. Anything that's overlapping needs to be glued to dark matter or made of holo or it will break (that goes for the back thin layer and everything in the background). Whether you do your 3d stuff before or after building your level is up to you: I tend to rough out my levels first and then add in the details (including any background work).

Their IS a way to do it!

And I'd tell you...

IF I could remember

In FOREVA_DEAD's Glitch tutorial level he shows you.

I'll try to tell you how to do it to save time.

PAUSE!
1) Get your object and glue it to a piece of dark matter that stretches into the front layers, out of view. Capture it.
2) Get a small piece of thin dark matter (4x4 small grid squares) and put an inverted grab switch and an emitter. Wire the grab switch up to the emitter.
3) Put your emitter in either the front or back thin layer (only one works so you might have to do it again if it doesn't work)
4) Now put your previously captured object in an emitter and just place it in an open space and don't change the layers. Set the emitter to

- Infinite lifetime
- Max. Emitted - 1
- Max. Emitted at once - More than one.
- Frequency - 0.1 seconds

That should do it!

WAIT! DON'T UNPAUSE! :cry"

Now move your piece of thin dark matter to the front layer (if it was at back to start with) or back layer (if it was at front to start with) now unpause and your object should be emitted into the background. If not, do the opposite front/back layer operation. If that doesn't work, see FOREVA_DEAD's tutorial (it's around the Time Agency ones) and you'll find out.

That tutorial's where I found out this 3D thingie from. Credit to FOREVA.

Let me Clarify a little. I want to make the background on the standard 3 layers, then I want to save that entire background as an object and then move it to the background. Also should I do this before or after I start construction of that part of the level?2011-02-13 07:29:00

Uh.......

Uhm.......

I'd say: I don't know. I'd say after because then you don't break anything with it, bearing in mind if there's 3D behind something the back thin layer doesn't work.

You can just place it in this without the hassle of fixing everything in the 3D without breaking any of the 3D. If you do it after, beware of moving things, ESPECIALLY in the back thin layer!

Also, what Merc said about fonts, I can't do because I can't import my LBP1 levels. Any other way, Merc? 2011-02-13 07:34:00

No way that I know of, why can't you import LBP1 levels anyways?

Because my profile for LBP1 was imported from my other user and it doesn't let me import my profile.

I haven't tried levels, but I can't import Objects or my old profile, which is why I HAZ NO LBP1 MATERIALZ!
