Local player AI

Have you ever been in the situation where you wanted to play a versus level/game with someone but can't do so due to lack of PSN friends online, real life friends not being available, or unable to join other PSN players? I have, and I believe this problem can be fixed, if Media Molecule adds a feature where you can add a sackbot when in your pod, and have it act as your local second/third/fourth player, and being able to customize it's look, just like you do for sackbot for a level. That way, you can play all the versus levels/games at it fullest, without the need to invite friends or request to join other players. But it should also have you be able to help your bot when using some HUD (ex: character selection). It would be acceptable if this mode wouldn't be available in story mode. That way, people wouldn't cheat. But online, this would be a great feature for those who have no friends available. So, whose with me on this?2011-02-13 05:23:00

This would be pretty much impossible to make useful I think. Given the infinite variety of game types available in community levels, and even in the story vs games there is a wide variety of different game types each requiring a completely different version of AI to make work.

Basically - how would the sack bot know what to do in any given game without some kind of sci-fi level of artificial intelligence?

That is pretty a good point. I just wished there was a way to play versus games without needing friends if they are not available. But hey, they might just make it so they know what kills them and what kills you. And yes, I am aware that could be a possible cause gliches.

Just teaching a sackbot what kills it won't be enough, you also have to tell it how to avoid it. You'd have to have a learning system that uses some sort of neural network to observe players on a level for a few hundred playthroughs before making AI buddies available. That AI would probably be more complex than most of the levels out there and you'd need a different one for each level.
