King Orca And His EVIL Sandcastle of DOOM! LBP2 version

Archive: 13 posts

Remember playing this in LBP1? Neither do I!

King Orca and his fat face has been giving a much needed makeover. I would appreciate feedback reason I didn't put it in F4F is because I suck at giving feedback... I just can never put together the right words. I'd love to play your levels and leave comments on them!

Outstanding conversion from a LBP original! I'm glad you didn't just slap a few jump pads in here and there and call it good. You have brilliantly integrated new power ups and visual flare to make this one stand out as more than just an easy remake. Outstanding

+ That visual toggle is a nice idea. I might have to use that.
- Not sure what that R1 box was for below the toggles, as I didn't need to use it.
- I don't really agree with all the invisible walls. Why not stick a barrel/pipe there or something?
- Unavoidable death after I killed the 2 cannon sharks. The trap door opened, and I slid right into mr jellyfish. :/
+ Sticky bombs.
- You can jump up the 4 sponge grab cog/wheel and skip the octopus.
- Pretty sure you see x2 kings when he changes phases.

The LBP2 changes were good.
I think I like the level much more this way.

Well, first let me say this level is genuinely wonderfully made. The theme is great and I cannot believe how long it was. I felt like it took ? an hour to get thru it (and not in a bad way, it was great).

The fact you had a mini boss and an end boss just shows how massive this thing was. The group of kids were hilarious and the traps/obstacles were well thought out.

I played this 4-player and we did have a problem at one spot. One of the first water areas where you see the 2 sharks coming up (It’s like a u-shape) the camera was screwing us over. Someone would get past the sharks and some others would die, the person who got past the sharks would start swimming upwards, the spawn BEHIND us would come into view and it would re-spawn the people back behind the sharks again. And since we couldn’t see the spawn up top, we were here for a few minutes with the camera zipping around a bit and it was a cycle of dying for a while. I think a closer-zoom would help out so if people die, they stay dead until the people who get past the sharks get to the next spawn.

That’s my only gripe. Lol, the level is great and I hearted it. We all had fun playing it, great job!

EDIT: Oh, and since you don't F4F but want to play a level, I have 2 you might want to check out. Dark Water Chapter 1 LBP2 version, and Dizzy Wheel Survival Challenge (my newest). Thanks!

Thank you I try fixing the camera... I haven't try with other players but hopefully should work now. I'll give you levels a go right now is well

5 stars.

I told you how awesome this was by PSN message already lol.

Only thing I don't like is how when you throw a bomb at one of the bosses(like the shark cannon one), the hit is registered even when the bomb hasn't touched the boss. Use a collision switch, set it to detect touches and to activate when a magnetic key touches it(put magnetic keys on the bombs).

Really awesome job besides that though. Can't wait for Urban Monsters and your eventual remake of Lovely Morning

Also, I've done some work on a new site level, wondered if you'd like a look at it?

One of the most gameplay packed levels out there, there's barely an inch wasted, and that's really impressive considering how long it is. The new LBP2 bits worked great, the bosses definitely benefitted from the new toys. Nice one.2011-02-18 17:08:00

How did I ever pass this up in LBP1?
The level was a lot of fun and I can tell LBP2 added a lot of good gameplay.
Hearted, nice job!

But if the tag sensor is on the bombs what will increase the bars? It can't be the impact switch because if they're two players all one has to do is fling them up there and jump on them a couple of times... unless I don't get what you mean... but thanks again for the kind words

I'd also love to see some of your new work!

Thanks hope my other levels will benefit from the new toys too!

Oh it did! in the old one the bombs from the cannons use to be a circle cardboard with gas, much more fun now you can fling real bombs back in there faces Thanks for the comment!

Also I need some help picking a level icon, which one looks better?

<script src='http://img576.imageshack.us/shareable/?i=kingorcaicon.png&p=tl' type='text/javascript'></script><noscript>http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/5935/kingorcaicon.png (http://img576.imageshack.us/i/kingorcaicon.png/)</noscript>
The "u mad" icon of his original model? evil grin from a more defined model? orrr sack version of King Orca... which? whichhhh? help me.
