Aspect ratio

Archive: 6 posts

I don't know how LBP2 handles aspect ratios so how careful should I be about placing important objects near the sides of my widescreen on a level with stationary cameras? Is there a letterbox or do the sides get chopped off on 4:3?

I played a couple other popular levels to see what they did. For example Corridors of Madness seemed to use the entire widescreen. Is 4:3 not affected by this?

That's why the 1st time you play the game, it asks you to re-size the screen untill all 4 corners are visible, m8. 2011-02-12 19:59:00

Yeah, but I wasn't sure if people with a 4:3 TV had the same size ratio box. So they do indeed have a widescreen ratio area and the rest gets letterboxed?

Nice sig, btw

Thanks.

Also, yeah, SD Tv's see it wide-screen with the 2 dark bars above and below the screen if I'm not mistaken.
(Unless they scale it up to full screen where they WILL be missing a bit to the sidesm but that's personal decition, shouldn't affect how other's create.

I had someone with a 4:3 TV test my level, in which I'd tweaked the main Movie Camera to make the play area exactly fit a 16:9 screen. The result was they could see slightly more at the top and bottom, and slightly less at either side. So it seems to be mostly a crop on either side, but zoomed out a little further to compensate slightly.
