Industrial Platforms
Archive: 39 posts
Ive spent about 50-60 hours, working on this level since January 19th. I really love it, and I hope other people will too. Its just a platformer type factory sort of thing. Platformers are my favorite type of level, and Ive always dreamed of making a decent one, and I hope Ive accomplished that. All types of feedback are greatly accepted, Id prefer complete honest critisism. Its my first real level, and if its popular, it wont be the last! Made a few adjustments, it should run a little smoother now. Also made a few minor teaks. | 2011-02-12 20:23:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
Finished adding any touch ups. Its really ready to play now. I do wish it had a little more popularity. | 2011-02-13 17:53:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
Hey man, I got this queued up to play when I get back in town. I'll leave some feedback when I do. | 2011-02-13 18:31:00 Author: Lockstitch Posts: 415 |
This was a really nicely done platformer. The visuals were clean and the obstacles were very creative. Some parts were pretty challenging and devious. But I did enjoy the inventiveness of some parts. There were some tricky parts. One I can remember is where you have through go into the the port hole by pressing up to switch layers. The arrow points left to the hole but maybe it should be placed below the hole pointing up. Besides some of the confusing parts it was overall really good. I think you could add more to the atmosphere though to make it more interesting. Nice job though. Hearted it. If you get the chance try Jersey S'mores for F4F. Thanks. | 2011-02-13 19:07:00 Author: antman Posts: 84 |
Incredibly interesting level. I don't even know this man, and his level made me cry silently. | 2011-02-13 20:13:00 Author: PurpleChaos Posts: 155 |
Well thank you LuckyMix, a random person I have never seen or met before and we obviously know nothing of eachother at all. Im glad my work has triggered your silent emotions. You may now continue being a person I clearly have no contact with whatsoever in any way. | 2011-02-13 20:18:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
Me,something,queued! | 2011-02-13 21:29:00 Author: creator22 Posts: 162 |
Someone said it was one of his favorite levels ever, and it has a yay/boo ration of 114 to 5... I do wish I could get on the cool levels page, just to see what else could happen. I feel so special right now! | 2011-02-14 21:43:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
You blew my first level out of the water! Not saying my level is bad, just that yours is really good. | 2011-02-14 22:01:00 Author: creator22 Posts: 162 |

Thanks creator! Ill check out your level next time I fire up the ol' PS3. In the meantime, Im going to think of more ways to promote this level with my giant head that I feel Im getting. | 2011-02-14 22:33:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
I played this level with the guy that doesn't even know the man who made this level. It's an amazing level, definitely worth a playthrough | 2011-02-14 22:40:00 Author: GreatWhite000 Posts: 673 |
Well, for a first level this is just amazing. It's a really good platformer with excellent visuals and interesting gameplay. There are a lot of factory levels out there but this one is genuinely distinctive. I loved the slightly enclosed, even claustrophobic atmosphere it had - you could almost feel the heat coming off the metal. Great use of decorations to create detail and some nice lighting too. The gameplay was varied and challenging in parts and made good use of the LBP2 power-ups. I particularly liked the section where you grapple up through the pipes surrounded by fire and the pipe "lift". You have a novel way of dispensing some of the power-ups too! Your level definitely deserves more plays than it currently has. A and a <3 from me. BTW your heart to plays ratio is very impressive too! | 2011-02-14 23:18:00 Author: shropshirelass Posts: 1455 |
- Don't see why you need a small cutscene on the first switch, since it's in view of the camera. + The first community level I have played where I could actually follow a bubble combo on bounce pads. - The layer switch bounce/grapple didn't work too well. (I had to move about while up in the air to get it to work) - I would replace the porthole arrow with a light or something. + Vertical grapple/in-out/ bouncepad bit. + Two layered grabbable conveyor was cool. Had no other problems. Solid level. Bet shropshire-lass by 70 or so points. EDIT: You shouldn't make level for the sole purpose of getting on the cool pages.. | 2011-02-14 23:25:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
The first cutscene thing is pretty unnecessary, I keep meaning to take it out, but I put it off a little, then forget. In an earlier version, I had cutscenes on many more parts of the level, but I got kinda annoyed with them and I didnt like them anyway, so I took them out. That one however survived, and is still there. Thank for your comments. | 2011-02-14 23:39:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
Fantastic level. You don't get to see good old platformers a lot these days. Your choice of objects, decos and materials together with the lighting give your level a story-level quality appearance. Gameplay is flawless, difficulty is gradually rising towards the end; you kinda get lurred into the level by easy and fun grappling hook and bouncing pad sequences in the beginning, while you have to maneuver through more tricky parts towards the end. I also liked the aspect, that you can make it sort of a sub challenge to get high score multiplicators which gives the whole level a high replay value. Great stuff! | 2011-02-14 23:47:00 Author: Chewbacca815 Posts: 12 |
Thank you very much everyone! Because Im just like this, I checked, and this level is now on the most hearted this week page, 2 or 3 pages down the most hearted this month page, and about 8 pages down the cool levels page. And its all thanks to all you people! I should also note I added a liight to the part where you have to jump back a layer into the pipe and also added 2 more arrows to make it much more obvious. I also removed the cutscene from the beginning. Yay people! | 2011-02-15 00:43:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
All of this commotion is getting a guy that has no idea who this man is very excited . I think it's time I started to pitch in. I hereby declare ATMLVE in the name of pwnage. How do you feel being a pro? Wait until Media Molecule sees this, I can promise you a Media Molecule Pick. | 2011-02-15 01:20:00 Author: PurpleChaos Posts: 155 |
If MM was going to choose platformers for MM picks, they wouldve done so with better ones already. But thank you for the flattery, its nice to see someone Ive never had any contact with before ever(really) take joy in my work | 2011-02-15 01:25:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
Queued, I'll take a look when I get the time tomorrow, looks pretty awesome! | 2011-02-15 04:55:00 Author: Jdsfrog Posts: 97 |
Just played. Really great stuff There's some really good platforming ideas in there. I really like the fact that there's some parts that don't really use any of LBP2's new features or tools and yet they are still new and innovative. When given new tools, it's easy to come up with new ideas...when given tools that people have been using for 2 years and you still manage to innovate with them...that shows you haz some skillz! There's a few parts that could do with a bit of refining, and are a bit unclear, but on the whole, it's a great first level. (Is it your first? I'm sure I just read somewhere that it was). Good work, keep it up! Looking forward to seeing what you do in the future | 2011-02-15 11:28:00 Author: jackofcourse Posts: 1494 |
I see big things for this level. I would say it's at the same level as Lil Platformers 2 or another big hit like that. | 2011-02-15 11:52:00 Author: creator22 Posts: 162 |
Thanks everyone, truly, youre all the best! And Jack, this is not my first level, I have had many n00b ones before this, but in my post I said it was my first real level. All the other ones werent really levels, although I did have one other platformer, but it was horrible. Thank you for playing though, its an honor! | 2011-02-15 14:55:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
That was insanely awesome! Probably the best factory level I have played (better than the story ones too). The platforming and score combos made it really fun, and graphically it was amazing. The music you chose fit everything perfectly as well. Nice job! | 2011-02-15 21:42:00 Author: Jdsfrog Posts: 97 |
Thank you very much! I am now working on my next platformer, and so far its going good, although it is VERY far from done. I expect it to be better than Industrial Platforms(at least I HOPE), and hopefully itll make the cool pages, which is sadly something Industrial Platforms failed to do... | 2011-02-15 23:23:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
Nah dude, it will hit the cool levels at this rate. | 2011-02-16 12:16:00 Author: creator22 Posts: 162 |
You really think so? I thought the cool levels page just had a bunch of levels that got thousands of plays in the first day. Since mines been out for 4, and it only just got 700, I dont really see how thats possible. | 2011-02-16 14:16:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
I played this last night, and I really liked it. The platforming was incredibly fun, and the level had a good feel to it overall. The most memorable moment for me was using the grapple hook to get through the moving hamster tubes above you while avoiding the fire next to them. I paid a few times for my impatience with that part. Yay'd and hearted. | 2011-02-16 15:26:00 Author: Moonface Posts: 310 |
EDIT: You shouldn't make level for the sole purpose of getting on the cool pages.. I just noticed this now. Please allow me to explain. You are somewhat correct; my goal kinda is to get on the cool pages. However, this is only from a certain point of veiw. My goal is create levels that are loved and enjoyed by thousands of players around the world. Its not really my goal, its my dream(one of them; Im not a [complete] loser). To accomplish this, I dont necessarily need to be on the cool pages, however, it would greatly help and speed up the process. Its been published for about 5 days, and it has only just reached the 900 plays mark. I would like to have it circulating by the thousands, because the more people play it, and like it, the better I feel, and THAT is my goal. At this rate, it will take weeks to get where I want it. On the cool pages, itd be increasing by thousands daily. Please do not recieve the wrong impression of me, Im not some n00b little kid with a giant conceited head. Also, it has reached 28th on the highest rated ever page. Just sayin. I checked. Dont judge me. | 2011-02-17 01:57:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
The conveyour belt at the end had been braking for some people; I have now fixed it so that It wont do that anymore(I hope). | 2011-02-17 14:13:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
It's never broken in my experiences. Although I've never met, seen or associated with you in any way. Because I do not know you. | 2011-02-18 22:22:00 Author: PurpleChaos Posts: 155 |
Looks very detailed, I'm adding this to my queue. | 2011-02-20 22:09:00 Author: VnGamer234 Posts: 111 |
Hey ATMLVE, I played this about a week ago and I really liked it! I'm not really a fan of the blocky, sort of geometric levels, but this one impressed me. The conveyor belts were cool, I like stuff that moves, so it was a good quality. I also reallly liked the lighting, it looked really good, made special characteristics stand out. This was a good level, you earned a yay from me! And btw, thanks for playing my level | 2011-02-25 00:10:00 Author: Jayhawk_er Posts: 403 |
Wow! So I just played this level ATMLVE, and I've got to say it was spot-on fun! The moment I entered this level the visuals instantly grabbed me. I could tell that every piece, every decoration was placed with a lot of thought. I haven't seen many levels as visually stunning as this. Secondly, the platforming was nothing but fun! Yes, it's challenging, but players like myself like challenges so that's a plus in my book Also, you pulled off some platforming tricks I haven't yet seen in another level, like the conveyor belts that you had to grab to go upwards. Simply put, this level is downright outstanding! | 2011-03-15 23:54:00 Author: Unknown User |
Probably the best platform (is this or "Honey World") that i've seen on LBP2 Yay,hearted No need review Only question is who are the 99 idiots that "boo" it | 2011-03-16 23:13:00 Author: GEK83 Posts: 163 |
Hiya ATM! So I just played your Industrial Platforms level, and I have to admit that was one of the most inspirational and most creative levels I have ever experienced. The gameplay and designs were absolute brilliance! You put every aspect of the level to its full extent and potential! I like the way you set this level up. Bravo. | 2011-07-21 07:38:00 Author: chronos453 Posts: 175 |
